Sub/Amp quick release wires?

Hi! I have the subwoofer and the amp in the back of my toyota matrix and i use the trunk a lot! Now my question is, i want to put a quick release in the wires so i just pull those and dont have to remove all the wires from the amp. Anybody have this kind of setup? I want to know what to buy. Thanks!

it depends, what kind of setup do you have? Wire size?

On my previous smaller system, I used to have twist lock connectors and it worked fine, but now i am looking for something that will work with 1/0 cable like this SB-Connector

You can also use some trailer wire harnesses for the speaker wires, they are available in a variety of sizes and configurations. They are available at most auto part stores. They work ideal for most speaker wire applications and for the remote on as well. For the power and ground, you can get a molex that is used for 4 gauge wires and is 2 conductor and is specifically made for this purpose. I have one installed on my truck for a rather large power invertor that I use occasionally (like camping and use it to power lights or a blender.....)

What wires are you wanting to disconnect? Where is the amp mounted? Since you mentioned 4ga I will assume it is mounted to the box and you are wanting to disconnect the Power, Ground, and Remote wires? What amp is it? I had a setup that could be moved between my work truck and car using extension cord ends for P,G,R wires. However the amp only had a 40amp fuse in it. These are what I used, but I think you will need something a little beefier depending on the amp. If you were to mount the amp to the car (eg: back of seat) then you would just need something for the speaker wires. This would be cheaper and easier as you won't be trying to pass high current through them. These are the connectors I used and they worked great. Would not want to try using them for > 40amps though.

Marinco has some great connector/plugs made for marine applications that work great in car audio applications.

For your amp, yes this would be a great choice. For a larger amp (600 watts or above) you would want to look for a connector with a higher amperage rating.

Cheers
