Sub problems, doesn't make much sense

Hey there, it's my first post, glad to see there's a Canadian forum for this kinda stuff haha.

Anyway, i've had a decent stereo setup in my car, used to have jvc deck (can't remember model) 2 4'' speakers in the front, 2 6x9's in the back and a single 12'' sub w/ alpine amp. Worked fine, pounded loud to my liking

Now: i've removed the 4'' speakers and JVC deck into my better car, and with the old setup i now have hooked up a pioneer deck (deh-3300, its my backup) to the 6x9's and amp and sub.

So the deck has settings, like "Front + Rear" meaning only the front and rear speakers play (no sub). So i change the HU settings to Sub ON, and in order for it to work the manual says change setting to "Front speakers + Sub" so i did. I figure this must be a bad HU for someone w/ 4 speakers and a sub.

Here's the problem. Front + Sub setting on HU wouldn't play through the 6x9's since they're hooked up as "Rear Speakers" wires in HU. So basically, it's either music all thru the sub or all thru the rear speakers is the only sound i get (between the 2 settings of 'front + rear' and 'front + sub').

So i rewire my 6x9's to the "Front Speakers" wiring, thinking that Front (the 6x9's now) and Sub setting will do just that, play together. Now the sub won't go at all, only the 6x9's do (and the 6x9's play on the front + back setting too, as well as sub and front setting, so that's right at least). Amp is turned on, and just this morning the sub would work but only on its own like i said. Checked all connections and they're all good (unless internal box connection?).

Any help is highly appreciated, many thanks for reading.

- Andrew

i have something that mau help you.. it is an asjustable line output converter... basicly you would splice this into your rear apeakers and it gives you a line out from your rear speakers. (rears still work)

you should be able to pick it up for about 15 - 20 bucks at most audio shops...

I found out the problem.. feel a bit stupid but on the other hand it wasn't really my fault.

Basically this pioneer deck is pretty shitty imo, because when you turn the sub the ON in settings, and put the settings to "front + sub" (which it tells you to in the manual if u hook up a sub) it doesn't power the sub.

Some reason the sub works while turned off in the settings, found out cus my car doesn't have constant power (old school) so the settings reset every time i turn off the car. So i was in a rush, got in the car and left the sub turned off in settings and left it on "front + rear" mode rather than "front + sub", and it was pounding hard!

It's a good feeling, i was missing that wholesome bass.
