system plays at low volume, then cuts at higher

This could be a grounded out speaker lead, maybe unhook 1 at a time and see if you have any luck?
Are you running the proper impendance on all your speakers/subwoofers?
its not a speaker lead for sure, im not using any of the stock wiring. It's all brand new wiring. And yes, all the speakers are 4ohms.
pin pointing requires me to actually have the vehicle here, otherwise it's just a guess. Hey at least i gave him an easy way to rule out the car's electrical system...would really suck to buy a new alt, battery and do the big 3 and find out that wasn't the problem!
If you want to check the system and narrow it down quickly do this:
1. Get a portable player with rca outs or mini jack to rca and plug into amp....if all is good with that, then it's in the head unit or rca's.
2. If it still screws up, then your problem is not the head or rca's. Start looking at amp and further down the chain.
3. If you can get a portable boom box...hook up to the speaker wires and test, if all is good then that rules out the speaker wires and speakers...you are now left with the amp and wiring!
4. Double check wiring...if good, then your amp has a problem!

i got 4AWG power and ground wire for the amp, 16AWG speaker wire. And i havn't even played with the gains yet, i bought the amp used off the classifieds section, the Memphis Big Belle, but i doubt they are set too high, the volume is pretty low when it cuts.
