Theres a whining noise? what is it?
Hi everyone,
Alright so I've hooked up a little system in my 94 voyager. I have a kenwood KDC-MP5032 deck going to two 1000watt max 4ch pyramid power amps (PB-612X). One of the amps runs 2 jensen 400wattRMS subs and the other runs a set of pioneer 3 way 180watt 6", and a set of pioneer 3 way 220watt 6"X9".
If I'm driving with the vol low or all the way down, I hear a whining noise that gets louders as the rpms increase. If anyone know's what the deal is let me know. If my deck is turned off there's no noise.
Thanks
Cya

if not make sure the rca's arent anywhere near the fuse box in your car or any other power.............
OR your RCA's are crappy
OR its the amp itself. ones i had a pioneer amp that did it and i did everythin to prevent it. i got a 4ch RF amp and the noise went away and never heard again.

x2, had the same problem in my 94 grand caravan, at this time I didn'T know much about ground loop, but now i'm pretty sure it is something like that...check your headunit ground too...

I have a 6 amp setup and 0 (zero) noise.
Proper grounding is the Key.
0 ga battery negative to chassis. As well as the factory 4 ga. Sanded paint away from the factory ground point.
Head unit grounded with 10 ga., found good ground on chassis inside the dash.
6 ga. on all amps to ground block, 0 ga. from gound block to chassis. Caps also to the same ground block if you have any. Sanded paint away and used a 3/8 brass/copper bolt.
I use RCA (6) cables with + & - to RCA's and a separate shield. The sheild gets grounded only once, either end but NOT both. (This type of shield is called a drian, the theory is that it will drain any induced noise back to chassis). In my case shield goes to ground in the middle, under the back seat.
Since it worked, I stopped there. I could have kept going, gounding the active crossover, cd changers & switch, interfaces, etc., etc.
Good Luck!!

i have my amps running all from the same ground,, i have a 4gauge cable in a good ground spot going into a distribution block and devides into 2 (soon 3) 8gauge wires going into one per amp.... ----- 0 ======
