Is this true?
hey guys, i went to the local audio shop here in town(stereoman) looking for a line output converter.
he told me something id never ever heard of before, "you have to be careful with the whole impediance thing. the stock speakers in your car now are probably 10 ohm, and if i hook an amp up to the other end of the convertor it shows the amp in the head unit a different load, maybe 2 ohm or whatever, and therefore thatll fry the headunit". is this crap?cuz ive never heard of it. rcas arent power wires, theyre not showing anything a load right?
help me out guys, thanks
Brad

What the guy was saying is that putting an LOC & amplifier in parallel with his speakers could cause his stock HU to see a dangerously low load which could cause it to fry.....
Well now, the input inpedance of you amplifier is going to be on the order of ten thousand ohms...... and you can add to that the resistance the LOC will provide to knock the high level signal down......
The guy you were talking to is clearly a moron who dosen't know what he is talking about.... please go back and ask him to STFU and suggest he should probably find a new job, on my behalf....

I agree. Unfortunately you have encountered an idiot. Use small words and back away slowly. Should you ever return to that store, avoid him at all costs.
