Angry type r popping?! help me

so i wired up an alpine type r 12, (2ohmdvc) and am running the full 500 rms to it from an alpine m1000. its wired in series to have a 4 ohm load and is in the exact specifications for a sealed box as givin in the manual.

the sub sounds amazing, but what ive noticed is that when at moderately high volume with my rear hatch open the sub pops as it hits? and also when at very high volumes with the hatch closed it sometimes pops as well.

maybe someones had the same experiance and knows whats going on i cant figure it out.

Sounds like your sub is bottoming out. This easily happens with sealed boxes if your not careful. If sealed is the way you want to go, remove a little air space with some spare wood.

Hard to say, maybe clipping, are you using bass boost? maybe subsonic Xover frequency set too low.

Whats wrong with Type R's? They are mean subs for dirt cheap. I kicked the out of the for over a year with a vr4000d and spl'd them to a 149.9 which just so happend to do the same number as my DC's on the vr4000d.

old thread i know but... i had 1500 rms on a single 10 type r and never bottomed it out so... if you are bottoming itout your box would be way tooo big or its a broken sub or a loose panel on your box
