Type-R for subaru WRX hatch (help me help my friend!! brand new car)

alrightty, it is easy to say that my friend richard loved the ground pound i layed out on him with my single 15 kicker. now, i got him, along with a few other friends on board the car audio scene. this ons first as he is already good to go and drop some hard earned cash.

so! i was wondering how a single 12 Type-R may sound ported in that hatchback. compared to my minivan its much shorter height wise and i think wheelbase wise. he did notice that we have sort of the same situation (car trunk style), but! he does not want the heavy spl of an L5. it doesnt have to be the type-R, he just thinks it is more convenient to buy in store and pick which has been already lined up in front of him lol.
this is all the info i can think of providing: he listens to rap, music such at ratatat, mstrkrft and other DJ's and groups/styles such as those if anyone knows them. fast pace bass. so i guess he really needs something that has a good level of sq but still have some spl to provide as well, will he need a sealed box for this kind of music? i think trunk space may be an issue but not too much i dont think. he is satisifed with the speakers right now, all he lookin to purchase to start off is wiring, amp, sub/box and converter to the stock deck until he can save up again for a decent one!

somebody offered a vmaxx sub or something to him in a store already, with a 500rms amp with box ALL for $800... id rather just sit down and ask you guys whats up as that has worked before

thanks in advanced!

p.s. i can get the specs of the trunk space and how much of it he will need.. it is the '08 subarau wrx hatchback (silver)

I would build the box to both suit the sub and the vehicle. Hit Jalat up for that. As far as a sub and amp go, lots of options to consider here. I will put together some options for you to consider.

you gotta figure out how much he wants to spend...

a solid 500rms system will be plenty loud in a hatch. and i wouldn't do anything more than one 12" subwoofer

this is guy some what of a big spender most of the time but i think he would like for now to just spend around 5-7 hundred dollars but i will check up on that. then he will be saving up again for a deck for around $300. the reason for not buying everything at once is because he HATES stock rims so a large portion of the budget will be going there lol.
one 12" would be enough right? cool, well i have mentioned you two guys to my friend for help so i think he would be down to have something shipped and custom built for him.

... i may be more excited than he is for this lol

thanks mike and rob so far for the help

update, schools almost startin up again, so i dont know when he will be able to do this. he went to a shop called "first image" i think. the one stop shop for rims and audio in woodbridge. they said they would hook him up with a 10" cerwin vega sub (200rms i think) with same company amp. this place didnt provide prices on the shelves or any info but the name of it. it seems like that was helping the employee there to lead on my friend on what to buy. what do you guys think? says with install should cost around, "for you buddy", $700 :P
