ZAPCO DC AMPS - feedback

Hey,

I have a Zapco DC650.5 on the way from Chris at S+S Electronics. I'm just wondering if anyone else has a DC series Zapco amp and if they liked the programming capabilities - positives, negatives, etc.

Thanks!

Once I install and program mine I'll post how I like it. I'm using it for a front stage (midrange and midbass set-up and for a sub).

I just auditioned a car with it in last night, it sounded super. The amps had a iron fisted control over the speakers. Very dynamic and quite detailed... frankly I think this may be the BEST way to do complex channel by channel TA and EQ rather than the HU.

The amps TA, EQ and crossover settings were with a little black box that zapco makes to control the settings. I did not hear the owner complain about the ease of control, I did not diddle with the controls.

This amp was reviewed in CA&E magazine a few years back and I was impressed with it, was even more impressed when I had a chance to look one over at Downtown Sounds in Brantford, Ont. a year ago.

That was last year when I spent a couple weeks looking around the various citys at car stereo stuff, this year I finally have some dough set aside for a decent high end system.

I've decided I want Eclipse, Zapco and perhapes Focal in my car, but things can change within the next few weeks, I may have just the DC650.6 as a base, but sometimes thing I'd like to have a bit more power in the form of either 2 or 3 DC series amps.

a little off topic, if you like the Focal comps check out the Memphis top of the line too... not too shabby (I dont know how the prices of either are up north, here Focal is a little pricey)

The new kenwood amplifiers also have DSP built in. T/A, Parametric EQ and xover with selectable slopes as well as HP LP up to 5000hz.

Pretty neet
