well, if i turn it up now, i can tell the subs cant handle it. the subs are 225 rms max each, so imo the amp on them now works fine, but thats my opinion i guess.


btw, what would u suggest as a "real" amp?

id honestly just like something all around better and probably sell the current amp / subs thereafter.

lol well, anything that isnt sparkomatic, pyramid, MA AUDIO, Shaker, Etc All XS Cargo Style Crap. Either a Memphis 500d, Mtx 500d. Even a pioneer. You will see a huge difference. theres a guy on this board somewhere selling a memphis 500d for $200, sweet deal, 500 RMS at 2 ohm Load. go that route 1st, your subs are fine.
Oh I Can Sell You This Rockford Fosgate Momo Amp which is around 500 rms At 2 Ohms For $200 Also.

bump, still looking, im actually leaning towards trying to get a hold of 2 type R's and an amp to go with em if anyone has em, or knows of anyone who wants to part with some.

I second the "you need a quality amplifier" thread. MA audio is actually a company that was formerly known as Mobile Authority. They were mostly found at flea markets and trade shows boasting about the huge power output with a stellar low cost. My conclusion after installing a few at my old job.......because and amplifier is rated at 1000watts peak means squat because most amplifiers can peak a 20khz signal to a tweeter@1000 peak watts but wouldn't come close to sending 1/10th or 100 clean rms watts @20hz to a subwoofer. Not to mention these xs cargo amps are very sloppy and produce distorted power. Most subs can handle being over powered. What you are experiencing is distorted output from your amplifier causing your subs to sound like @$$

i totally agree with you, im sure my subs could be better than they are now with a better amp but even still i want a better system overall, this ma amp is just crap and i know, i own it :P

i just want to go to something that hits harder and has more power.
