03 Cavalier spl enclosure

Hey guys I am looking to build a spl box for my 03 cavalier. I have built a few box's in the past for my other cars and one for this car so far. The one I have now seems to be not to bad but i think i can do better so I wanna build one specific for competing. Lets start with my setup, I have 2 powerbass 2xl 10's and a powerbass asa 1000.1d. Powered by a run of zero gauge for positive and negative from the battery under the hood to a xspower d3100 in the trunk. The box dimensions can not exceed 26x16x28. The biggest thing for me is which direction should the subs be pointing and should i use a square port or do aero ports. Anyways any advice possible is greatly apreciated.

i have an 04 sunfire that i use for db drag racing. last years build i had sub firing foward and a 8" areo port pointed to the drivers side.

i did fairly decent numbers with that, but after talking to some guys that have a fair bit of experience, they are telling me that i should be firing the sub with an areo port foward. sub on the passengers side and areo port on the driver side.

i havent done any meansurements yet or started to build but from some pics i have seen the port take sup almost 1/3rd of the drives side of the box and the box pretty much fills the rear opening when the seats are down.

hope this helps.

Threw talking with some people I have a box design thats 29x12x18 with a square port thats 2x10. This would give my 2 10's aprox 1.5 cubic ft per sub. The subs will both sit to the passenger side and the port will be on the drivers side facing into the car. As to what freq I will be aiming to hit is gonna be a huge unknown till box is built and i can hit the meter and see what kinda numbers i am hitting and at what freq.

I have seen people use pieces of wood to make the corners not so sharp and they also resin there box should I possibly try these things aswell?

Ports way too small, 2-10s facing forward, port facing forward on the drivers side, sealed off from the trunk. 2.25 cubes max for both subs and lots of port area (at least 75
sq.in),Stagger the subs on the front plate. My old box was 1.75 int. vol. 102 sq.in of port tuned to 40 hz Your car will peak between 43 and 48. Was the loudest box i had for my 2-10s in my cavalier. You can get more room to play with if you cut the corner bracing of the rear deck, attached to the back of the strut towers. If you dont know what im talking about, SPL and cavalier shouldnt be in the same sentence.

The only issue i have is i dont really wanna hack up the bracing behind the seat, but i am intrigued by what your telling me. I had my mustang do a 146.9 2 years ago and my golf do a 145 last year with blown up subs. But those are hatch cars and this trunk thing is a whole new realm. By chance would u know the specs of that box, I know how to do the math but i cant seem to figure out what dimensions u used to get those internal numbers for your port nor box. Thanks for helping

well i built a box on friday and it works quite well and I would have so to say I am impressed. I used a 4"x12"x16" slot port, subs are mounted to the passenger side and port is drivers side. The box has a total of 2.5 cubic feet not including what the port and the subs take up. It was tuned for 45 hz and will hopefully get on the meter right away to see what kinda numbers i can get.
