Acoustic/ sound material inside of sub enclosure

I was going to some shops today searching for sub boxes, I was told that some places charge 40-50 dollars for something called acoustic material that they say will make a night and day diffrence in sound quality... I am wondering if this is true and if this is at all nececairy,

Any imput no matter how small is great

the stuff does deaden the interior of the enclosure but you can get
simular results by using a thin layer of polyfill

So are you guys saying that a box should have polyfil or something? I have nothing in mine right now. Does it make a difference that my box is sealed?

it doesn't mean you should. It depends on he subs frequency response in your car now. adding loose polyfill will just lower the f3 point by maybe 2 hz. Not drastically noticable. If it makes you feel better you can rip up a wal-mart body pillow (cheapest source for polyfil @$4.49 for like 3cu.ft of the stuff)
