danyman 04-11-2009 10:59 PM

thats gonna be sick.. im guessing its a 3 door ford van right??? that would explain the odd bigger door lmao

thumpper 04-12-2009 02:07 AM

here is all the amplification

290w rms x 4 @ 4ohm for the components

and what ever that 80lb thing is rated at for the subs....

http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0202_large.jpg

the other set of tweets will be going in the pillars

did I mention that there is four 15" SSA Xcons going into this thing....:)

avidedtr 04-12-2009 07:02 AM

4 - 15's? What do you cross your sub off at? With dual 6.5" GTi's I'd assume you would do 40hz @ 24 db and down. Very NICE

DeadlySones 04-12-2009 07:46 AM

Nice, very nice! :appl::cheeky4:

thumpper 04-12-2009 09:57 AM

the subs will be tuned for a FLAT response....

side by side common chambers....7.0cf3 each

thumpper 04-19-2009 01:48 AM

and matting as well as the rest of the pods..(completely sealed)
the tweeter mount is seperate from the Mid Pods

sx4life 04-21-2009 02:19 AM

I am so gonna laugh when that amp eats those subs! Nice build so far

thumpper 04-21-2009 10:32 AM

it's not an amp...it's a reactor..............LOL

I think these subs will do OK...thay have almost double the RMS
of the Icon 10's and a bit more cone area to slow things down

Toddyboy 04-21-2009 01:18 PM

very very nice

sx4life 04-21-2009 07:06 PM

wuts the rms on those subs?

thumpper 04-21-2009 07:33 PM

the Xcons are 1750w rms...take in mind they are also an SQ sub

ndinadis 04-21-2009 07:49 PM

your throwing 6000rms at them?

sx4life 04-23-2009 09:43 PM

the amp is 3k! 1750 combined between the 4?

danyman 04-23-2009 09:52 PM

if what i read was right he has 2 JBL crown amps.. so 6000watts into 4 subs

thumpper 04-23-2009 11:27 PM

the listed power rating on the A3000gti is bogus...
by far the most under rated amp I have ever seen period in house or car

the Xcons are rated at 1750w rms each..they should be able to take it no prob

ndinadis 04-24-2009 01:14 AM

you did mention that you were putting this all in a van
in that case you should have enough room to switch up to the A3000gti :cheeky4:
on another note, I have been checking this daily with updates hopefully you get some time this weekend I really want to see how it plays out. :smilie_da

sx4life 04-25-2009 03:20 AM

it maybe under rated (like most amps) but that mean squat if ya cant get the voltage to it, hope ya beefin that vans electrical up!

DeadlySones 04-25-2009 06:17 AM

I know for certain that they can upgrade your 125 amp stock casing to a 200 amp alt. Complete rebuild of course. That's the most that Power House could fit in the factory casing. No problems running my amps. Best was it cost only $20 more than buying a factory one from Crappy Tire...

Toddyboy 04-25-2009 02:05 PM

Ebay has 200 and 220 amp alts for it jus a lil fyi around $200

sx4life 04-26-2009 10:00 PM

200 is pretty damn decent! I still run my 85 amp LOL

thumpper 04-27-2009 12:50 AM

the electrical system will be sufficient when done

I'll most likely run dual alts..there is more than enough room under the hood
and I have room underneath the floor to put a couple of batteries

a couple more pics of the finished door pods...

I need new fingers...about 6 hours of strait sanding makes hands bleed

will have more pics as soon as they get back from the Upholstery shop

SUX 2BU 04-28-2009 11:33 AM

Buying a $50 or cheaper sander can make that type of work go a whole lot easier.

I have a few sanders and they are only good for very rough sanding on a curved surface like that if it's going to be painted. For that really good smooth factory finish.. hand sanding is the only way on a complex curved surface.

Most places will just use a power sander, add a glaze coat, give it a quick hand sand and paint it..which under any light always shows alot of imperfections, reflections are all over and not smooth. etc.

thumpper 04-28-2009 12:03 PM

I have a couple of different sanding disks for knocking down the bumps but like said
above it takes hand sanding to get the contour correct

SUX 2BU 04-28-2009 03:29 PM

You can get sanding discs down to 3" or smaller or small-footprints to make work of a shape like that much easier. That shape isn't that entirely complex from the looks of it. Yes, hand sanding for the finish but a person is just wasting a ton of energy and time to hand sand it entirely just so they feel better about it; especially if it's going to be covered with material and not painted, as the OP already said. Either way, it's not my project or my time spent but I'm sure the outcome will be nice.
