So, how's it sound? most important.

danyman 06-01-2008 10:12 PM

how did you bend that i had to use boiling water is there an easier way???

Father Yuli 06-01-2008 11:39 PM

i love your boxes and what you can do with wood is really sick. One thing i dont like is the fact that you use carpet. I think your boxes would look really nice if you painted them and made them glossy. The carpet makes it look plain. I think you should make it look pimp on the outside with something like glossy blue or dark purple or something man. Try just one box and post some pics.

sx4life 06-02-2008 12:09 AM

I h8 to say it, but I agree with YULI try paint trevor it looks sick

what u mean you hate to say it? dont make me come over there and do what catholic priests do to little boys.

thumpper 06-02-2008 12:28 AM

I am not set up for really nice paint jobs yet...I'll have a paint booth
and an air brush set up sometime soon

Father Yuli 06-02-2008 12:59 AM

cant wait.

LOL bring it on FATHER LOL
LOL I h8 to agree with you about something LOL, doesn't allow for me to stir with you :p

ancientpimp 06-07-2008 08:20 PM

I think bending the wood is by setting just the right height of the blade on a table saw so that it wont cut thru the wood (just barely depending on wood thickness) then space them out evenly per cut. Voila, bendable mdf. Check his pics again, you'll see it.

Sick box tho!

danyman 06-07-2008 08:53 PM

i had it at 1/4" in between and 1/8" left to play with and i still had to put boiling water on it or it just broke hopefully my next box goes better lol

fozzz 06-07-2008 10:17 PM

your not going through far enough then, I've been doing this to MDF for years. It works well, but you need to make sure you cut enough material. The size of the Kerf cut will tell you what max/min raduis you can use.

danyman 06-07-2008 10:54 PM

thx ill try again next time i make a new box lol still came out nice tho you can see the pics http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/onli...5098-done.html

right there

thumpper 06-08-2008 12:03 PM

I have also chimed in on the gloss paint

If you do a box with large flat areas a wood venier would be cool too

sx4life 06-08-2008 04:11 PM

kerfing and aint hard but ya as you said trevor takes patients.... I had it easy when workin in vernon I ran a cnc router I could make it do kerfs for me and hole cut outs etc.... however I normally did that myself by hand...

liv2ride 06-08-2008 06:25 PM

You got that far with the carpet, why not do the port too ? lol dont need a paint booth for paiting btw neither for an airbrush.. just need a basement , airbrushing doesnt make a mess, its the cleanest way of painting.

thumpper 06-08-2008 06:46 PM

painting in the basement is fun.....the kids and wife just love
the fumes from paint...I usually end up needing a bottle of Advil

Lorrd Fapa 06-08-2008 09:55 PM

Very nice work. Turned out awesome. Congrats!

I hope you have electric heat and electric hot water. More than one dude has levelled his house with explosive fumes in a basement. :ohwell:

a guy in Summerland did that a couple of years ago
the house was over a block area

I use oil and arcrylic based paints..you can't use that stuff
in a house...a well ventilated paint booth is the way to go

liv2ride 06-09-2008 08:16 PM

Yea for sure, I was just kiddin lol.. but for airbrushing. usually not too many fumes, and the paint is car paint most of the time so its safe to use indoors.

99CivicSi 08-08-2008 04:17 PM

Why did you do the port on this one so much longer then other boxes you've posted? Some sick skills for sure either way :)

danyman 08-08-2008 05:44 PM

different size of box needs a different length for for a certain tuning. and it all depends what he tuned it to

99CivicSi 08-08-2008 07:22 PM

wow, so much i don't know, and nobody had answered my thread to help me out :( lol

danyman 08-08-2008 07:25 PM

lol it does get confusing. i learned alot in this past year but im far from being super smart in this stuff. everyone learns no matter how long you have been doing this
