Box Materials (Baltic Birch Ply or Marine Grade Mahogany Ply

MDF is getting too heavy I need an alternative! From what I've read on other posts these are the best alternative options "Baltic Birch Ply or Marine Grade Mahogany Ply"

Application is sealed, 2.12 cu.ft and fully braced! Two Focal 33KX (13")

Cheers Julian

$58 for Blatic birch 3/4" @ 5'x'5 sheets though! Apparently Marine Grade Mahogany Ply is almost twice as heavy as MDF - OUCH!!

Most marine grades of ply will likely weigh more than MDF.

Go with a standard plywood.

Thanks for the reply Dukk - I used Baltic birch a few year ago and it turned out well on a pair of 10" Eclipse Aluminums. Bracing the box helped immensly!

Have been using a lot of Baltic Birch in marine enclosures lately.... Builds a strong box and seems to have good acoustics.
