box Q/A's

I'm in the middle of beginning a box for a Focal 27KX. I'm using 1" MDF and my main concern is depth. The driver will be inverted (see..Fig 2).

I'd like to make it extra shallow to save trunk space (see..Fig 1)

(see..Fig 3) is the alternative box but too big for my trunk

Internal volume will be 1.0 cu.ft

Main Question Will the sound or performance be affected with a very shallow depth?

Thanks everyone

Julian

The depth was going to be 3-5inches on clearance I think that should be enough! Tall and Wide Box!

???

zzzzzzzz - thanks for the comment, personally I'd rather use MDF to start. I've always personally found MDF to be a better suit. F/G is good for contours - in my case a straight forward box will be sufficient!

I'll post process pics and once it's done.

Spare tire well - I had a FibreGlass box built this summer housing a JL Audio 10w1 - It worked quite well for the summer. The sound was decent and output was average. I added a second sub and the air space was too small. I went back to a sealed rear firing box and was a lot better!

I've been moving the temp .86 cu.ft box around for the past 4 days and the best location so far is center firing back. I have yet to try it firing down to the floor but time will tell!

Cheers
