Building new sub boxes for truck

Subs x 2: Clarion SRM3004
Amp: Pioneer GM-X952

I have so many questions i dont know where to start.

what size should each box be in qubic feet and how big should the ports be?

im planning on running each sub behind each seat so can i build the gap between them into the box designs?

will my pioneer amp be enough to run both these subs, i have no manual for each.

also here is a picture as to what it is right now, and as you can see there are two 12's in a single box with a single 3" diameter port. i dont think this is right even tho the guy said it was a professional who built the system.

Hey session606,

You may want to contact Clarion directly for the proper box volume/vent area etc. Clarion Canada or will help you... 905-829-4600 (also ask the what impedance they are for wiring to your amp).

Your Pioneer amp should technically be able to run your setup, as long as you wire the subs for it's correct impedance and if it's bridgeable or not... contact Pioneer Canada for this as well... 905-479-4411. After that it's up to you if it's loud enough to produce the bass you want.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Rino

ok i will call them today and hopefully get thru to them. anyways what do you mean by "as long as you wire the subs for its correct impedance"?

i plan on having two subs wired into one terminal and then running it to the amp and bridge it. is that ok?

If you have a multimeter, check the ohms at the posts on your box after subs are wired. I'm pretty sure that Pioneer amp is not 2 ohms stable. So you need to have a final load of 4 ohms and it will make about 380 RMS. The way you wired the subs you will need to have 2-8 ohm drivers. I've got the manual, if you need it PM me.

If the back of the sub says 4 ohm then the way you wired them may turn your amp into a space heater then a paper weight. You can either only run one of them, or call pioneer and see if the amp will handle 2 ohms. Usually (or at least the one I had) heated up and went into protection quickly. Had to sell it and buy a 2 ohm stable amp.

ok well here are a couple ideas.

ive been thinking of just having 1 sub in the cab for a long time just so i have room in the truck for stuff since its a reg cab. how will the single sub run compaired to the two i have in there now. also do i have to port the box?

Well you will not have as much output by switching to only one sub, you'll have to get another box built. As for ported or sealed .... there are many different opinions to that one. I'd say in your case ported might help with the lack of output. Not to mention some people can design/make one sub get pretty loud in a ported box. it's up to you. That Pioneer will def push one of them Clarions. There rated at 250 RMS.

Not sure, I can't find a manual for the subs. Have no idea what it's parameters are. I'd try to ask Clarion that one or keep looking for a manual. The sites I usually use to find manuals don't have it.
