Built a box for my sub...FINALLY (13-640x480's)

OK so Ive been needin to build a box for my sub since beginning of february. As I had my amp installed and had the sub...just never got around the the box. Well now I had a hand and some time n dedication and well heres the result so far!

#1- Cut 3/4" MDF sides, back, etc.

#2- First stages of assembly

#3- Now with the slot installed

#4- Closeup

#5- Same thing, diff angle?

#6- Cut cross bracing

#7- JUST after cutting the hole for the sub

#8- Love this pic, shows the size ratio obviously after being sanded to fit

#9- With cross bracing in

#10- With the lid on

#11- Straight up nearly finished

#12- Full pic, all woodworking finished carpet going on tomorrow

#13- The cover for my truck box, needed to cut section of 2x4 out so i can fit the sub and grille, the box fits snugly in between the far left 2x2 and cut up 2x4. Its also being screwed to the lid and the lid is bolted to my box so no theifin without a crowbar and even then it will be hard and better hope i dont catch ya with my 2 way alarm!

Well thats my box, SO FAR. I have carpet going on tomorrow I HOPE and wiring and sub is going in PERMANETLY never coming out unless I burn it up (doubtful). OH and its being powered by an Alpine MRD-1001 V12

Looks pretty solid with all the bracing, good job. How many cu ft is it and whats it tuned too? Do you have a blow through or is the box just going in the box of the truck?

The sub is a 2006 Kicker 15" Solo Baric L7. Its a 6 cubic foot box obviously slot ported. I'm not quite sure about the tuning but I believe its roughly 34hz like most boxes. I don't have a blow thru as I dont quite feel like hackin up my truck yet...so yeah its just going in the box. And I have stripping which I'm going to put around the box lid so where it contacts the metal box it wont vibrate and make a lot of noise. And of course the lid is gunna be cranked on real tight. Should sound pretty damn good, my 2 10" sonys sure did so I'm hoping for amazing results!

Looks awesome man. I love the 2 braces you put it. I did the same kind of thing with my pair of 15L5's, but I only put one brace in between the subs as that was pretty much all I could do. Just wondering why you doubled up the port piece and not the front baffle. Probably don't need to with the pair of braces for the front, but the doubling up the port is interesting. Let me know if doubling up the port was worth it, might do it on my next box.

Well I installed it today and hit a problem. TOTALLY forgot that you dont need as big of an amp if you have that big of a box So I dunno, but haha yeah, i turned it on after puting speaker wire in to see if it powers on and not even 15 seconds go by and i had the neighbour lady come out bitchin to turn it off, and my room mate said that his whole room was fallin apart hahaha it is very very impressive. it gets the spl done that I wanted and i can be heard from a long ways away. now i know why people do blow thrus though maybe I will do the blow thru when I pick up a fibreglass lid. ANYWAYS I will have pics of the nearly finished installed product tomorrow as its raining here now. I just hafta put carpet on it yet....
