Curing uncured resin ??
Curing uncured resin ??
Well, 24 hrs after glassing the new box again and the first area I did(the bottom) hasn't set, still "wet"
So I guess i didn't mix the hardener in well enough. I've been searching for solutions and I would like some opinions on what one to use..
Heat and airflow hasn't worked on the problem areas, most of the box is cured properly however..
The "fixes" I found
- lightly mist straight hardener on the affected areas
- Do a top "hot" coat ...3-4 times more hardener than is recommended, redo the bad areas quickly
-Use a light coat of bodyfiller, apperently it is resin based also and will set the resin
As far as I can tell, since I'm doing more coats on the box anyhow, a "hot" coat seems the best way.
Still I'd like any other ideas and opinions??

Hot batch is the way to go. Also when doing resin Warm up your area to the point that your sweating.
If I'm doing it inside (in a well ventilated room) I just crank the heat up and leave it there till the resin is dry to the touch.

Thanks guys.. The "hot" batch is on, I only had so much hardener left...Maybe 3x if I'm lucky. Guess we'll find out in a few hours.
There's not much chance at getting the room hot bland, I need to keep windows open or I get a good earful
I do have 2 heaters running anyway, one oil filled and a small forced air microfurnace, oooh and a ceiling fan...lol
On a cost note... I had no idea how much resin I would end up using when I decided to use it on the box I, should of bought it in bulk.
Thanks again DS, bland

ive never had a problem using resin in the cold, usually 20-25 drops per ounce of hardner and it drys just fine, just takes more time. have also put a heat lamp on the hardner for 30 min before its used so that its not as thick.
I'm still hoping one day to get some real resin to see if there's a difference. So far I've only been using the bondo brand from CT which people say you need about double the hardener to get to work, but the end results seem to be the same.
The "hot" coat worked perfect. I'll have to remember to pick up a little extra hardener next time.
The bondo resin from CT is the stuff i used also.
Ever notice a small bottle of hardener in CT before guys?
I remember seeing a larger one, but thats wayyy more than anyone covering subboxes with would need..
Can you buy small amounts in a retail store anywhere?
