Enclosure port dimensions
Sigh i got a single 15 ssa zcon tuned to 32 to hertz nd the person made the port only 5 cm width and 42 cm height...... Now im thinking the port is TOO small... What yall think?? Its a 4.0 cu ft nd will be running on a saz2500

Can you post a picture of it?

well to me it looks abit small allmost like a prefab box but that is only my opinion lets see what other people will say on here.
|
i got it made from davis @ selective sounds :O im gona give him a call about this on monday!
|
Just like I said that is just what I think get some more opinions on the box from other members.

That's over 30sq.in of port area - well over a 6" diameter port. For anything other than a dedicated SPL enclosure, it should be fine.

well ive been reading alot, and asking ppl about this, nd what was told to me was that for a single 15', recommended sq inches are 12-16 per cu ft. and my box is a 4.0 cu ft so the port should be in a range between 48-64 sq inches ? and also, i told him i will be atteneding competitions so i guess it is more SPL oriented.

Do yourself a favor and forget you ever read anything that relates the volume of the enclosure to the area of the vent.
A 1.5cuft box has an 8" driver in it. Another 1.5cuft box has a 12" driver in it. Should they have the same vent area? The volume of the box is the same but the 12 will have more than double the air displacement (all things being equal) so does it not make sense that maybe something other than simple box volume drives port area. Now double the box size for the 12. Should the port be twice the area? Why? The driver displacement is the same! Anyway, like I say, do yourself a favor and forget you ever read that. :thumbsdow |
well does power come into play then? since i'll be running 2500watts rms on that single 15' with only 30 inches of port area?
