Fi SSD
I am looking to build a new box for my 2 12" Fi SSD's. I have a 96 Plymouth Breeze and about 1500Wrms to work with.
I am wondering if i am better off with:
-Subs/ports firing into car from trunk and blocking off the rest of the trunk.
-Subs firing into car from trunk with ports facing rear of the trunk and leaving some space for the sound to get through (low box to allow sound to travel over top of the box).
-Subs/ports facing rear towards the back of the trunk (current configuration)
-Subs up, ports back, forward, side or whatever
I'll post a few ideas i had once i have a bit of time, and get some of your advice.

Hey not to go too far off topic here, but i just happened to notice the Audioque on your signature. How are they? I was kinda debating on a pair of 12s from them for a lil while there and still really like the look of them.
But back to the box topic:
I was told by a couple other people that my best bet would be to block the trunk off as much as possible and have the subs and port firing into the car.
I prefer to take the word of the people on here cause they tend to know their stuff, so i think im gonna go with your idea anyways.

The AQ HDC3's take a hell of a beating. I'm throwing around 1800rms at mine and it takes it daily without hesitation. It's definatly a groundpounder sub with some great SPL values. I'd say its one of the best bang-for-buck daily/SPL woofers out there.
As for your enclosure, do you have the third row seats in or not?

If i were to set it up withe sub up, ports back. How much room should i be leaving on top to allow sound to travel through the trunk freely?
I was thinking of building the box the width of the trunk so it meets both walls, and about 14" high, which leaves 3" of space between the box and the top of the trunk. Is this enough space for sound to travel through properly?
Or should i be leaving space on the sides for the sound to get through there also? I could build the box wider and make it so it has a bit of space on the sides and the top. Just not sure how much room i should be leaving for sound to get through. I tried it once before and it didnt work too well but i only ended up having like 1" of space above the box...bad idea i guess cause it sounded horrible.

that is my mistake, i misread the vehical.
i would suggest leaving about an inch on either side of the trunk (width wise) and make the enclosure around 14.5" tall which should allow for some airflow. deffinalty do subs back port back if its a trunk vehical
