Fiberglass enclosure volumes?

I've always wondered... how do you calculate the enclosure volume accurately for a fiberglass enclosure with the subs on those angles and the curves etc in the box???

Thanks!!!

Do you do this after stapling the fleece and prior to applying the fiberglass? I would assume then that after this if you want to change the volume you have to take the fleece off and re-do the supports for the structure to change the volume?

Thanks again.

no. After it is all resined and hardened.

With some experience, one can guesstimate reasonably the volume that the irregular portion displaces. Then if it is too large, space can be displaced with ballast if needed.

We usually fill with water and that will give you you exact calculation.

The packing peanuts seems logical.

Doesn't the water damage the MDF portion of the box?

Thanks again guys.

we use water in the fiberglass portion of the box only. Once you get good at building fiberglass enclosures you can kind of figure out the volume by estimating the size.
