Fixing a sub box

My (ported) sub box has a leak in it where the seal has come undone, its a pain in the *** because the wood rattles in the leak and sounds terrible. I was told by a stereo shop that I could seal it with some 3M spray, although I forget what it was called.

Any ideas on if this would work? and last? I know a new one would probably be better but I got no money right now and am just looking for a short term fix...

I read another post that mentioned PL400, but I have no epirience with that, is it a spray? because obviously I need a spray to get in there, or so I would think....

Also for when I do buy a new box - right now I have a truck box (dual 12"), I now have a car, I was told that car boxes are louder, any truth to that? and is it a noticeable difference?

Thanks for the help!!

Can you post a picture of the broken area?

Possibly your friend was telling you about a spray insulation / foam type product. It sprays on, expands a great deal, then hardens up. It makes for a good filler, but will NOT bond two pieces of wood together for example.

I dont understand the truck / car box statement, UNLESS he meant that truck box's are generally smaller than car box's due to space limitations. A box with double the volume of another one is probably going to sound louder to you, depending on what the subs themselves want of course.

Cheers

the spray is 3m's srpay contact adhesive! only good for carpeting.
pl400 would work temp but you need to the crack a little and push the caulking into the opening as much as possible. this would need to sit unused for at least 24hr to cure. the pl400 is a construction adhesive (caulking tube) used to glue many diffrent materials together. you would need a caulking gun if you already dont have one. if the seperation is inside the box you can put the glue on your finger and push it into the crack. to clean up after paint thinner or like is needed to get it off you and whatever else you get it on.
if you could get the caulking in there and then scew the piece together it would most likely last a very long time.
