I want to design a ported box for my Type R's.

I have the basic skills needed to build the box, given the design, but knowledge of what goes into designing a box is where I'm lacking.

I know I want ported because I'm a basshead, so I'm looking for the loudest possible box, basically.

So, would someone be willing to work with me to design a box for my subs?

 

OK so there is a ton of unanswered questions here. type of car? space avaible? size of the subs?
Your a bass kind of guy so you might wanna go with a bigger box. Assuming, there the newer Type R's and there 12inch, I would go with 1.2 cf for each sub. Alpine call for .85-1.25 cf.The 0.85 cf is mainly for SPL, power bass applications. They can take more power this way, (Sealed) and not have excessive cone excursion at higher SPL levels. This is the spec noted by Alpine.
So if you build the box with 3/4 inch MDF 28'x14'x14' you will get a volume of 2.4cf. Perfect for 2 type R's.
Next I would suggest tuning the ports to about 33 hertz. There's a really good calculators here(Subwoofer Enclosure Calculators, Fraction to Decimal, Parallel, Series, Port Length and Volume Calculators) that would help with finding out the proper port size for 33 hertz. Personally I tune most of mine to about 40 hertz. but that's just me. You can personal message me if you want, if you have any questions Ill be more then happy to answer them.

I think I've decided on no? My current box is two 1.25 cube chambers with a slot port in the middle, a lot like the design above. Tuned to 36 hz, or 38 maybe. Anyways, I was told building a custom box wouldn't do that much for me if I already have a box so close to the specifications.

 

You said you wanted the loudest possible box. That is not, nor is the one you have now manufacturers specifications are a general spec for your subs to perform WELL. 1.25 x2 minus your subs displcements is 2.2 cubes which i find very small for 2-12s. If you wanted loud double your airspace and triple your port size. So like i said if you still want a design let me know.
