how to go aboute building sub floor for the trunk

Alright - I'd post pics of my SX but it appears I took those photos with a film camera before I bought my digital one. boo.
Anyway.
1) Empty the spare tire well, vacuum it, and wipe it down so it's nice and clean.
2) You want the fibreglass to conform to the shape but not stick permanently. If you are on bare metal I suggest taping over any rubber plugs, bolt loops, etc so that nothing can get into them and stick and then wipe down the well with mold release or floor wax or even WD-40 or PAM cooking spray works alright. If you have a carpeted well like my SX did, then tape it all off. You can save some time using aluminum foil to cover large spaces, just be careful to tape the edges and don't tear the foil.
3) I like to take 1x2 and make a perimeter around the well. This gives you something to attach the baffle to and also makes a space to run wires through.
Frame the well, and staple all the joints together. If the well extends out under the back of the car or you want to section a piece off for whatever reason, cut 1/4" wood or cardboard and staple it to the frame.
4) Glass away. 6-8 layers. Run the glass right up the edge of the 1x2s
5) After it is all cured, heave it out. If you glassed to metal it may adhere quite well. Tap the inside of the glass with a mallet while you lift up on the edge of the frame. You should be able to see the air gap develop through the glass.
Looks like this now:
6) Make your baffle, attach it to the frame, and yer done.

im building a subfloor for mine in a couple weeks.
im making a frame from 2x3 lumber, using metal 90* corner braces to keep it strong, it will get painted once done, then im going to cover the top with aluminum sheet.
ill be using 1/8" sheet, cut to fit my trunk contours and bolted down with security screws.
should keep my amps pretty safe, although i need to design a door so i can get into my spare tire well. good locked storage never hurts.

that sounds pretty cool as you can see from the pics below i am gonna use some matching blue vinal vabric in the trunk
and get my sub box lined with the same fabric and i want to inser a 12 inch fusion in the wheel well soo i can run 2 set
ups and have one for comp and one for cruising or when some one pulls up to me all i have to do is flick on a toggle switch
and the real bass kicks in.

Glad i looked at this......good info as i am going to be glassing the womans van this yr......nothing sticking out past the original interior panels.
