thats where my amp is in my chevy astro. i built a little amp rack (just a little bottom peice) and my amp has never gotten wet/dirty and stays very cool.

you could just do it that way.

Hope this helps

I just bolted both my amps under the front driver and passenger seats (4ch under drivers and mono amp under passenger) before winter, put my winter mats in, and never worried. Took a look a few weeks ago (cleaning out my CRV) and the amps never even got dirty, sand didn't even go there. Fortunately, my back floor mats have extra flaps that go under both the seats, and does a good job on hiding my amps and keeping water/dirt away from my amps. My amps have plenty of ventilation and hardly even get warm.

I'm pretty sure that is what I will end up doing as well. Sounds like the best solution.

I just want to thank all those who has responded so far. Muchly appreciated.

I'll have to figure out how I want to get my enclosure in there. I will probably end up going with something the full length and width of the trunk and as little height as possible.

I assume that an enclosure can theoretically be any "shape" as long as the interior cubic volume is the same, correct?

If the amps fit under the front seats, mount them to a piece of 1/4" MDF with long enough screws to grip into the carpet. This will keep them from moving around if you have to stop in a hurry.

I have found that a box that will tuck into a corner seems to cause the least amount of aggravation when putting your camping stuff in the back. A single 10" or 12" sub in a small sealed enclosure with adequate power should give you enough bass. If the enclosure is wide and/or tall enough, it will also give you somewhere to mount an amp.

One other thing.....a good 5 channel amp to power the whole system, mounted on the back of the sub box might solve a couple of problems at once.

Good luck with it, those small SUVs seem to be made for audio upgrades....or maybe thats just me....
