LEAK In Enclosure

Hi friends,

When i play SUB at high volumes it bottoms out,Is it cause of leak in enc,
at normal sound levels sub does a quite good job but when played at high volumes at some heavy bass notes it makes strange noises as it is torn...
How can we detect the leakage and how can one correct it!!!
Cheers!!!!
SUB-ID 10"v3 dvc nominal power 250w max-400w
amp-jbl 75.4 pumping 284 w

This is a good question, funny thing is.. I think I might have the same problem.. When i fed my wires through this hole I drilled in the back, they fit snugly into it, but since my wires are square , I think theres possible air leakage , (its a sealed box too , so the pressure is even higher then when it was ported) So I'm wondering the same thing as you.. Anybody with an answer ?..

Do like a leaky tire... put soapy water on your seems of your enclosure turn up the sound and wacth for bubbles.

Thumbs up

1: Do not put water anywhere near MDF or you will have even more problems.

2: Get a tube of silicone and go over all the inside seams and around the wire hole.

3: For the record, the pressure inside a ported enclosure is much higher around the tuning frequency than a sealed enclosure.

Type is sealed.
Box volume is 0.8cuft
Driver voulme-0.05cuft
dimension;-front 14'' side view 13'' top 8'' with an angle of 70* for back wall.
Eq settings are on flat amps settings are flat
HPF at 80 n lpf at 80.I am not sure about these

Any other way to check the leak.....

Lightbulb

Minor leaks like an oversized wire hole don't affect performance.

What kind of noise is it? Bottoming the coil makes a sharp 'crack' noise. If it makes a flat flubby sound then you could be clipping your amp really hard..

How do you have it wired. Like on two channels or all channels.
