Need to custom ported box made for my single 12" Alpine Type R (GTA area)

East Need to custom ported box made for my single 12" Alpine Type R (GTA area)

I have the 2nd gen type r 12". (swr-1222d). right now its in a sealed 1.4 cu ft. I also have a ported box but its only 1.2 cu ft. and tuned at 46hz. it goes a bit louder in that but sounds much worse.

I need a custom ported box made? I live in brampton so anyone in that area whos interested get at me.

What specs would you guys recommend? I'm thing 2.0 cu ft. tuned to 33hz.

the car is a '03 toyota matrix.

Use the specs in the manual.

1.7 cu ft. tuned to 35-40hz?

I've heard going bigger and giving a lower tuning sounds much better

The box I am getting built is tuned to 30hz .

I say 35hz if you that is the lowest in the manual, But you don't always have to go by that but personally I would.

I'd say 2.2 cu.ft with a port tuned to 26hz.

Edit : I forgot to take into account for sub displacement & port displacement, total cu.ft should be around 2.32

yeahh so I need a local builder, otherwise i will have to resort to ebay because local shops here are asking $250+

how much do you think it should cost?

why not build it yourself.

type r's enjoy larger enclosures, and do well tuned low. i would suggest around 2.2 cubes after displacement @ 33hz

Yea, custom boxes don't usually come cheap and nor should they. They sound a hell of a lot better than prefab boxes, plus the time and effort put into designing and building them.

Building a box that size yourself should only cost $20-$30 (if you have some sort of saw, glue and some screws, plus carpet if you want). I mean, I've made a complete box using only a jigsaw, some glue, a cordless drill and a few drywall screws. In all technicalities, you could use a handsaw and screwdriver if need be. It may not be optimum, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying someone else to build it for you. Also, it's really not that difficult. Plus if you don't like it, you're only out $20-30 and some time. The hardest part is figuring out port size and length to tune it, but there are free internet programs that work (and are actually fairly accurate).

*shrugs* but it's up to you. I'd build one for ya (~$100 uncarpeted), but I'm not very local, unless you wanna drive ~3 hours to come pick it up.

I got a local cat SPLACCENT to build me a box. 2.5 cubic ft. internal volume and 32hz tuning with a slot port. sounds incredible so far. props to him.

No one wants to pay for quality work anymore, everyone wants to do stuff on the cheap.
Unfortunately they're expecting the moon, with they won't get it with a prefab or cookie cutter solution.

Materials and time both cost money.

I'll spend a good 4hrs on building a box.
Solid joints, rounded corners, good quality materials.
My work doesn't come cheap, but I'll stand behind it any day that ends in day.
