Please help

well i want to build a box for a pioneer ts-w302r .... i have being fooling around on here (re audio calculator) for 2 hours lol, and well my subs for ported box are anywhere from 1.25 ft3 to 2.05ft3 and the recommended is 1.65ft3 and the tuning frequency is 28. Well i can get all that on the calculator with the depth being 19.5 inch!!!! my friend told me that is to deep and it would be like free air is he right...btw the sub has a mounting depth of 5.75 inchs..i got the around there with a depth of 19.5 and a port size on 1.5 inchs

These links might be more helpful for you.

The depth of the box should not make it free air. As long as your internal volume stays within the range recommended, it shouldn't matter too much what dimensions achieved that.

22"W x 15"H x 14"D will get you an internal volume of 2cu.ft. Find out you port dimensions and subtract the port volume (include port walls) and subtract that from your total volume. You also need the displacement of the driver, you should be able to find that on the Pioneer site.

Ok. 1.69 liters, is .06cu.ft.

Then you need to determine port length and such to get the tuning you want out of the port...

Yes. If you add any internal bracing for strength then you have to compensate for the volume that takes up as well.

Note: Is it for music? I only ask because 28Hz seems pretty low.

The Pioneer site is a little short on the T/S specs for that driver.....

The Fs of a sub is it's Free-air resonant frequency, not the frequency you should have the box tuned to. If you can post the specs that came with the driver someone here will be able to help you with the box.
