Post Ported or Sealed for my Focal Utopia Subs?

Should I got ported or sealed for my 2 Focal Utopia 27WX's? They will be hooked up to a PG ZPA 0.5 (1000 WRMS) and the subs are specified at 500 WRMS.

So I am leaning towards sealed cause I'm afraid of blowing these things with twice as much power as they are rated for.

Odd thing is that the recommended sealed and ported enclosures are the same size (Specs). Since this is true I was thinking of building a sealed box and if I wanted to then I could just drill a hole for the ports later.

What do you guys think?

I thought Focal recommended a ported enclosure for those subs...

Well since the Rec. Sealed Box Dims are: 0.75 - 1.50 cu.ft. you think I should go 1.0 cu.ft? Seems kind of big for a 10" woofer.

3/4" MDF for sealed right?

Actually that link above to SoundDoamin is wrong on the Recommended box sizes...according to the Focal website its 30-50L and ideal is 40L which converts to 1.06-1.76 cu.ft and ideal being 1.4 cu.ft.

How can I figure out how much displacement the woofers are since they are going to be installed inverted?

Nope, wont change anything..

Just dont take displacement into account when inverting a sub.

Grey.. for inverted, dont worry about adding for displacement.. for example, build the enclosure so its total is 40L's, if you wanted to build the "ideal" size that is. If you where to mount the driver normally, you would increase it to 45L's for example.
