Post Pre-fab boxes ?

Would you guys recommend buying a pre-fab box from EBay at all ?

For example, here's one that Fusion makes :

Just want to know pros/cons of getting a pre-fab box versus getting one built from scratch...

I'd always recommend a custom built box over a prefab box anyday!

I totally agree with Chris...hehehe...All of my boxes have been custom except one and I really regret buying the pre-fab one...I just found a new isntaller, whose name I shall keep secret, cz I don't want anyone else using him! He knows who he is...

But, yeah custom will almost always yield better sound because they will be built to your subs specs and not generic specs..

Have fun!!

If you have the box already made, maybe measure the box and compare to the manfacturer's recommended box size..

or if you don't have the box made, make sure that it's built to the manfacturers recommended specs..

I called up the store here, and I mentioned Im using Pioneer subs, and told them what model they were.

He immediately said that they require 1.25 cubic feet each for a sealed enclosure (but pioneer's website recommends 1.5 cubic feet for those subs), said that his store works a lot with those subs (check em out at http://www.chase-audio.com), and he said they've built some of the loudest cars in Canada, if not the world. I know ppl who've got their boxes done there, and I know the place is pretty reputable; theyve been around for a while.

They use a software called LEAP to design the box, but he said they didnt really need to use software. He said that it doesnt take much to determine what dimensions 1.25 cubic feet per sub require. Mentioned something about measuring the trunk and going backwards from there or something ...

Keep in mind I dont need any 'custom' work, I just need a simple MDF carpeted box made to hold my 2 12 inch pioneer 305c subs.

what do you guys think ?
