Recommendation needed for Ported Enclosure for 12" Type X

I have one Alpine Type X Sub, I know there are specs in the manual for a generic ported box but I'm looking to build something a little nicer. I really like what Sub Sonic builds and if he wasn't on the west coast I would have him build me a box.

Anyways, right now it's in a sealed box, 1.5 cu. ft. and it sounds "ok" I like the response that it's got but feel it should be louder (powered by a PDX 1.1000) and I think the ported box will give me that.

Car is a 2006 Grand Prix, External Diameters I have 36 inches wide, 16" high and whatever deep. I'm trying to keep it as shallow as possible to have the most amount of trunk space I can get.

I usually listen to Hip-Hop/Rock/Pop, not sure where to tune the box either. I can build it no problem, just need help with design. I don't know if I can have the sub point up and the port point to the back, this would help prevent crap from the trunk (golf clubs etc) from damaging the woofer.

**Sorry for the link, copy and paste from the PDF didn't work for me**

Thanks!!

RE Enclosure Calculator

check the manual or ask the salesmen for the box size and tuning for a type x then the site i gave you will tell you how much cubic ft and the tuning that your gonna have. and you can make it the size that you want.

so far this one is the easyest

Thanks, I tried that calculator but you still need to give it port width and depth......

And there's no way I can talk to the local shops, useless (In Durham region anyways)

hehe, i used that re calculator to make the first box for my 12" RF T2, made to 36" wide and 16" tall.. it turned out to be garbage :P.. ended up building the recommended 3.12cu ft box for my sub and it was great.. but now it's all burned up

Jay will this help?

Speaker Enclosure Volume Calculator

You could always ask subsonic to send you the box layout (probably for a fee)

I PM'd him asking if he could do that

Just reading the specs in the manual and they show a 1.8cu ft Gross ported enclosure, and the port they are suggesting is 12"x1" and 24" long which is a square port since the box is 13.5" high OD and it gives a net box volume of 1.3cu ft, that sounds damn small to me.
