Sealed to Ported Box.

Hi all. I currently have 2 15' kicker CVR's (last circular model), in a sealed box. Now I bought the box, with 2 old school kicker cvr's in it, and I believe they were built to spec. There hasn't really been a change between the 2, spec wise at least, so I bought the 2 ones and put them in. Now instead of just selling the box, and buying/building a new one, is there a possibility of just taking the current box, and constructing it into a ported box? Maybe drill some holes in the back or something lol. Thanks for your time.

your biggest problem will be the amount of volume that those boxes have. Usually ported boxes for a given subwoofer is larger(more volume) than the sealed box for the same sub. In the case of Kickers it's usually a big difference. I don't know how large the box is, so there's no way to tell if it might work or not. Measure it (l x Wx H) and post it for us to figure out approximately how much volume you have. You may get lucky if the box is larger than spec for those subs.

Alright just to make sure that im doing it right, and everyone understands im going to explain with great detail, and once again thank you for your time. The Width (left side to right side), is 33 inches long. The length (from front to back), is 17 inches lnches, and the height (from top to bottom) is 16 and a half inches. I do have some trunk space, so if it is a little wiser, to increase the life span of my subs and create a larger, ported box, instead of making my current sealed, a ported box, then i'll do it. But if I can save a buck here and a buck there, and just make my current box ported, without damaging the subs, that would be great. Now I also have ZERO room at the front to creat the ports, so it would have to be at the sides or the back, is this advisable? Thank you for your time again.

based on the comp vr specs, the minimum recommended ported box is 3 cubes, so that's 6 cubes for 2 of them. Your measurements, assuming 3/4" thickness wood, comes out at about 4 cubes total. Now subtract space for ports and you're into the 3.5 cube range for 2 cvr 15's....build a new box!!
