Sub Box With Funnel Through Back Seat Idea

If it's much smaller, then your going into a hit or miss zone, creating a BP enclosure with a port length of 3/4" (or whatever the thickness of your wood funnel is) and could tune things unpredictably.
I've had some good experiences with rear firing the woofer, but front firing the port.
The other alternative is to seal off your front baffle to your trunk. Then, theoretically, nothing gets into the trunk.

I think your biggest problems are the ports on the ends...they'll load too much off the funnel.
If possible put the port(s) closer to the centre, near the exit of the funnel. However to do this, you may have to go with pvc ports rather than slot ports.
I've tried something similar with great results...however I didn't have a funnel. I just sealed the space between the box and the ski hole.

Thanks MR2NR, thats what I wanted to hear.. Like it won't be that much of a waste building the funnel anyways.. and i really think i'll work, I'll also take the advice for putting the ports more towards the middle of the box.. i'll see what i can draw up tonight ..

have you looked at how the seat is made ? look to see how is the ruge on the seat /is it airtite besides form the skl hole ?
stop reading go out look see what you have
if your seat is mostly foam and not all sealed then i would do a ported box ,if it is airtite i would do a bandpass box
but TRY A BOX if you do not like it TRY A NEW BOX untill you get one you are happey with

I don't know what you mean by air tight .. but the whole back seat/wall is sheet metal, no foam, then the seats (made of foam) are mounted to the sheat metal.. its not thick, so i'm guessing a ported box like the drawing (without the port) and some sound deadening mat on the trunk lid will minimize the trunk rattle ?!

some cars like bmw say it is a firewall (airtight)
look into a 4th order box / Single Reflex - Band Pass Enclosures
