sw8200 ECLIPSE tuning..

If it can't pick up higher frequencies than it won't hurt it. It'll hurt it more playing 20hz tones or having the gains up all the way. If you don't have to have the 500/1 gains up, that's good, that's why I prefer 750W amps on these, they are a SQ orient.

I've also used 2 SW82's for HT with a plate amp that has a switch to change it's output at 14hz, 25?hz, 33hz?. Straightforeward, 33hz is loudest, 14hz is useless for music. I'd use 1.75 cubes for HT if you listen to music, if you only watch movies, than closer to 2 cubes/25hz tune. You should know that even on that 500/1 it probably wasn't pushed, even on 250W it looks like it's using all of it's excursion, what'll happen with more power is it'll move faster and get louder without more excursion. It should handle 750-1000W all day in 1.5 cubes with your gains up 1/2-3/4.

the gain on 500/1 is 1/2 :]... i tried set it to 3/4 and cranking the deck but the woofer looked like it was going to jump out off the trunk and kill the kids playing on the street (the rubber surround reached its max- fully straighten up)....

:] thats good information.... I will hook up the 1000/1 then when i get the time- I was afraid since i started with 500/1 and it looked like it had enough.... also for HT.... did you use a HT amp? I am planing on building a weird setup that will allow me to use a car amp that draws up to 120amps.... but its a lil sketchy project (even the electronic shop technician told me it maybe quite dangerous).... how much will be an HT amp for this SW8200? cuz my setup will cost me $100-150 at the end of it....(not including the amp- hopefully 500/1)
I get out your way for work every few days...if you would like me to take a look at your setup PM me and we'll figure something out.....

They only come in SVC 4 ohm so you're stuck needing an amp that'll do ___ watts @ 2ohms, for two subs you'll want 1500W @ 2 ohms. I bought a 500w amp from partsexpress, it gets hot after awhile (30 mins) and will shut off so it's best to use whatever you have at half power, maybe buy two 1000w plate amps and not go past 3/4. Won't you need a DC to AC converter for a car amp? There aren't many plate amps that are past 500w if you search google. I read that the O audio amps have more features than the PE. Keiga and Dayton have 1000w amps too, but that might be MAX not RMS, I also read the Keiga 1000 is 2000w @ 2 ohm.

I used maybe 250w each in a 1.2 sealed box and the cones moved all they could, the motor is weak, has a small magnet, and is for low distortion so you won't really hear it being damaged past RMS. Tell me when your surround starts to cave in. Just because the surround is stretched out doesn't mean it's at max., if you give it more power it'll move faster and have better SQ.
