yah man, if your going to cheap out on this, then there is no point of even putting it in the car....do it right the first time and you wont have any problems with your system...do it wrong the first time and you'll have tons of problems. But hey its your ride your decision go for it!

i left the carpet on here in hopes that, since the sound will have to travle farther through this carpet complex it will make the port seem longer, which is good.

what i am trying to do is make the best box possible using only scraps laying around. im nt spending any money on this. best possible may not be super best, but it will be the best possible, so basically, get as low of a tuning as possible, but port noise will be the limiting factor. max lenght is about 23 inches, its the longest side of the box, so the only variable is the port hight, too tall and its tuned too high, too small and it will make port noise. so i settled on 1.25

i ran it threw some songs and there is so port noise, so its all good, yes its ugly, but its in the closed trunk so.. maybe i will spray paint the wood black.

 

I wanna put a type x into my bimmer too, i got a 328is, what year is your? is it the e36?

Im looking into 1 12inch type x, but it requires 2 ft box, and i dont want it to take alot of trunk space..

 

323i year 2000. up till now i was planning on using a loc to just hook up an pdx1000 and a ten inch type x. but now im like, well might as well put a deck in, so i got a alpine deck for 88 bucks with usb and aux line in so il be happy with that.

with a good wide box that covers all of the back seat area, you wont be loosing too much trunk.

 

Wow this thread is ghetto. you have a beamer and it sounds like u bought a used deck somewhere ($88)? also alpine decks are over rated. that sub i have heard of before but wtf is up with the magnet? is it just me or is it square to anyone else? and very small? also you gotta re-carpert that face plate of that sub box.
this all seams very unnecssary. i dont see why bother trying to install a port? go spend a few bucks and get a real box made by bassworks. or hell buy a used mae box.

seriously labour costs $110/hr on bimmer, plus expensive stealship parts, plus bimmers arent like merc... they need to be constantly maintained / babied, plus e46 has a rediculously large oil pan, which brings oil changes price up...

do you have the Harmon Kardon speaker n amp in ur package, because if you dont i got one, im parting out my 2002 320i, n it came with harmon kardon package also any other peice you might need, all the leather is mint, and rims arent bad with tires wiht good thread on them.....

Also that sub in the pic isnt the type x... he just useing it as a work bench i guess...

 

i changed the oil for 100$ my self.. 7 liters of full synthetic mobil one isnt cheap.

i dont have the HK system, i dont even have the stock amp(that i can find,.,., maybe i have the euopean version..)

the only thing i am really looking for is a little washer type thing that goes on the windshild wiper, its shaped like a V. i need the one off the passenger side.

i dont tihnk shipping from toronto to alberta would be good for bucket seats hey

now back on track to this thred, does any one know the wireing diagram for the pins in the back of the radio, so i can ghetto rig some wires and not buy a wiring harness??

 

oh god please spend the 20 bucks on the wiring harness! its a beamer dude! you mess up and start a fire your gonna be upset about the $100 on oyur oil change.

(pos+) + (neg-) = fires.
