Typical cost for building a box?

I was wondering if any of you have a ball park amount for building your own box. I want to make my own sealed .75 cubic foot box. I want to carpet the box aswell as have speaker terminals. The box would be 12"x12x13.25. I have worked with wood before, and im pretty confident that i would be able to do it myself, but im just wondering if the cost will outweight the benifits? thanks.

I'm going to assume you have all the required tools, but none of the supplies.

sheet of 0.75 MDF. $20
wood glue $5
wood screws $5
carpet $15 (max)
terminals $1-20 (depending on what you want)
and lastly, some wire, 14,12,10g, all would be fine. $2 at home depot.
that's really all there is to it.
oh, and maybe some silicone to seal up all the seams..

if you can just buy a half sheet of 3/4" MDF your not gonna have to spend very much, just need glue, dry wall screws and patience, be far cheaper then buying a pre made box from a store

I have the glue and the 2" wood screws, i also have a countersink which should help I have all sorts of silicone (im not sure of what to use). I might just pay homedepot to cut the wood, but i also have a full table saw at my schools shop class aswell as any needed tools (like a jigsaw). For the carpet, how much would i need to carpet the box? I'm assuming a yard but im probably way off. If its only gonna be around $30 i'll do it my self for sure. thanks.

yup, I would say you have a good start on it, I don't use terminal cups, I just drill 2 holes, and silicone the holes after the wires are in place :P
