wood cut size
wood cut size
I need help I"m building my first box for a single 10" clarion ssw1000 and want a box thats W=18" H=12" D=15" using 3/4 mdf but im getting it cut at the store IM buying the wood from and need to know the sizes for the pieces and help? (sorry if this is a newbie question)
U could use the re enclosure designer at .:: RE AUDIO ::.. It will give u your cuts
Is this a sealed box? Also which face to you plan to install the sub? That sometimes changes how you want to assemble it, therefore the wood cuts change. Answer my two questions and I should have no trouble making up the cut list, I'll even post you a pic of it.

I think that is going to be wayyyy too big a box for that sub. IIRC they only want like 0.5 cubes sealed and 1 cube ported. As soon as BigRedGuy chimes in here he might remember better than I. For sealed you basically want a box that the sub just fits into and you're good.

Yer memory's pretty good for an old fart....
Those are the correct volumes as per Clarion.OP, the volume I get from your numbers comes in around 1.47cuft or so.....I would mount the woofer and port on the 18X15 side myself. The long panels should be braced or they will ring like a bell when you hit the bass.....

Without knowing what music and vehicle are involved it's hard to say which way to face it, you should try it a few different ways anyways and see what sounds best to you......

Not positive but I think a custom enclosure might yield slightly better results.
