Where to start.. as we were at finals just sitting around and talking, Alma Gates walked up to us and handed us a team gates nomination form for a person (or team, or something) that was representing car audio well and helped out others and stuff like that.
So I sat back down and thought and thought about it.. a few names came to mind.. then after thinking for a while one name started to stand out more than the others..
The name that stood out was Moe Sabourin. After thinking and thinking I realized I don't think most people know and/or appreciate how much he has done. I am pretty sure I do not even know all of it.. but I will try to name all I can think of..
I'm pretty sure at least once every week during the season Moe either runs his own shows, or helps out other people run thiers, at the same time he also competes. He spends lots of time each day answering competitor/enthusiast e-mails (mostly from me [img]smile.gif[/img] ) with questions on products, iasca, etc. He also spends lots of time on the telephone with the same and some different people [img]smile.gif[/img] Also during competitions he will help out people as much as he can whether it is lending out tools (if it wasnt for Moe letting me use his meter, i would have ended up taking 4th instead of 3rd at finals), discussing rules, or just answering any kind of questions. Moe is also one of the biggest (if not the biggest) Canadian supporter of IASCA.
I'm pretty sure I have missed some stuff.. and I appologize for what I have missed and if I have mistaken any facts.

Chris I whole heartedly agree with the statements you have mentioned.I'm sure there are lots of competitors and shop owners that can say the same or have a kind word for what moe has done for IASCA.With moe holding the most Iasca shows in Ontario he has given us the chance to improve our cars and prepare for finals.With out that kind of love and dedication to the sport I'm sure the Canadian group that went to finals would not have done as well as we did.I think there were four Canadians that came home world champions this year.I have talked with three and they agree 100% that moe and his shows helped prepare them for finals.Moe I have said this a million times but thanks again for the support that has made me a better competitor and person.Your love for the sport has defiantly made its mark on many many people and the car audio industry

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it means a lot to know the things I've done and the effort put forth are noticed. I have to admit the one thing I do miss the most, however, is being able to take the time to hang out and shoot the breeze with my fellow competitors. Having so many things "on my plate" has made it very difficult to get around and see everyone to make sure they are having fun, enjoying the event(s) and letting you all know how much I enjoy seeing us Canadians bringing car audio competition to a higher level. With the love and support we ALL have for this industry we are quickly being recognized as the driving force in the industry worldwide... and the proof was our presence again this year at the Finals.
Having said that, I want you all to know that my support of the competition industry next year will be as strong if not stronger than the last couple of years with one exception... that support will be towards all Canadian competitors and less on competing myself. I will be focusing on events for you, the competitor, starting with my events next season. "Sound Pound" will no longer be... it will be replaced with a new event called the "Canadian Summer Nationals", which I'm hoping to have all the details finalized by the end of January to release to you. I will also be hosting numerous single point IASCA events throughout the season and assisting in other events hosted by other dealers. This will give me the opportunity to spend more time with all of you, getting to know you better and offering help and answering questions when I can.
In order to do this, I have to eliminate some of the things that take up my time in other areas, namely competing. So next year I will not be competing and the Civic will be in "hibernation", hopefully making it's return the following season.
In my eyes, it's all about giving you, the competitors, a place to play. We are all so proud of our vehicles and systems but unfortunately are perceived by the general public as people who play their music at insane levels all hours of the night and are more of a nuisance than anything else. My goal is to bring some credibilty to our sport and let them know we're proud of what we love and what we do.
My promise to you all is to do the best I can to give you the best events, nationwide, and make Team Canada the most respected competition team in the industry.
Congratulations to you all for standing up for what you believe in and making Team Canada and the Canadian competition industry the best in the world ! See you next season ! [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

Well, don't know where to begin, MOE mon ami!, I thank you for bringing me into IASCA. We met at sport compact night in MTL this summer and I started off as an SPL car. From there sound pound we switched to SQ. Thanks to you my friend you brought out one kick a.. canadian team. I thank also all the judges Rob/Rina Beckham for going all out on me at the last event. My competitors Shawn Payne and Brian Hookumchand for pushing my limits and to all that supported this frenchman. Plenty of others to thank out there. You know who you are. Thanks again MOE See you guys next year maybe hopefully with some new toys [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/beer.gif[/img]

Yes indeed, i must thank mo' MOE for all he has done for promoting IASCA this year. If he had not I would not have learned as much as I did nor met all the crazy fanatics I did during the past competiting season!
And definitly a great big thanks to all the judges, rena, rob, gord, jamie, chris, jo, sammy and all the rest that I did not list! without you I/we would not have had any guidance or found reasons to make improvements on our systems. Also without our fellow competitors there would be no competing or challenge! We had fun!!!!
Yes ....I will have my car done for one of the shows next year!!!!!!!hahahahahahhhaha!

Moe is the heart and soul of Canadian sound-off competitions and the undisputed number one IASCA supporter in all of Canada.
He puts himself out like no other, staying up all night at Sound Pound to watch competitors cars because a security company cancelled at the last minute. Or helping find a resonance frequency in a bunch of SQ cars at a Syracuse TKE just before breaking his own world record.
Nobody is a better all around person than Moe Sabourin and I'm proud to know him.
If my work allowed me to get away more often I'd have been at every show Moe put on this season simply to promote a guy who works so hard for us.

Needless to say I'm going to need all the help I can get, it's really tough to do everything yourself. I have to give credit where credit is due though, if it wasn't for the tons of volunteers, competitors and local businesses chipping in I would not have been able to get through Sound Pound this year... thanks to all of you, you're the stars here in my eyes. The goal with the Canadian Summer Nationals (CSN)for 2004 is to bring as many of the sanctioning organizations, manufacturers and car show orgs together for one big show in the middle of the season. I have already spoken to Steve Stern at MECA and he has assured me they will attend. I'm working with Paul at IASCA to make it a TKE for 2004 and I still have to make arrangements with people from dB Drag and USAC. If anyone out there is a dB Drag or USAC retail dealer and you are interested in running your event with us, please contact me and I'll fill you in on the details.
As it has been for the last couple of years, getting the show & shine part of the festivities going has been the biggest challenge. We've been blessed with 20 to 25 competitors each year, some also competing in SQ or SPL as well. However, it would be awesome to see that number grow, bringing into our fold "new blood" from the tuner and classic car clubs, etc... hopefully introducing them to the sport of car audio competition.
Well, I've let the cat out of the bag, that is my "master plan". Any suggestions and/or people willing to volunteer their time towards making this dream become a reality will be more than welcome. You can either email me or call me at the shop with your thoughts and replies. Things won't really start to roll until January so please be patient with me, I still have a shop to run and according to my wife make a living too [img]graemlins/freak.gif[/img] !
