A 4x8' sheet of MDF is about $60 here, then you need screws, speaker terminals, etc. Also 1/0 gauge wire runs about $4-$6 per foot, so after 12 feet or so, it adds up

Battery should be fine. Bigger alternator, definitely. That's my birthday present to myself is a 200A HO alternator. My poor focus with it's stock 105A isn't cutting it.

If you have the extra cash, get a type R now. It'll probably be the last sub you ever have to buy.

What i'm really worried about is the same issue happening again. Something I am doing just isn't right.

How much does an upgraded alternator cost? I don't even know where i'd find one :P (I feel bad for all these questions lol)

Getting a bigger alt will not help as much as it should if it will be trying to put all that extra juice thru the factory wiring.

Don't forget around $25-30 for the Big 3, the amp you are using and your alternator will thank you.....

Whoa, what's the 'big 3' do. I though the big 3 was the alternator, battery and ground wire. Not a giant tube O.o.

As I'm looking, and i'll have a paycheck next week. I'm gonna snap and get something. I see the alpine (I'll give them a shot this time around) which you made sound more high end (and pricier) the type r, spec wise it doesn't look as appealing to me as the type s, which has more frequency response etc. What gives ? :P. I also notice there are 2 ohm and 4 ohm coils, what's the difference? Not sure what to pick (or should pick).

IMO, Type E & S is junk.... Same as the RF P1 (P2's are decent tho, hell I ran one lol).... Type R is ok, but I'm sure you can find similar performance for less coin. Give me a bit and I'll pull some links from the classifieds here on the site to give you a better idea where I'm coming from. 1/0awg for 1kw? Really? If it's only the sub amp, 4awg is just fine. 8awg to the subs for this setup is waaaay overkill. We're talking 1kw not 3 lol And the OP has a 300.1 right now... I would run 8awg for power, not signal!
Big 3 is for sure. Yuli wrote up a how-to on the forum, check it out. I think it's in General SPL. All batteries are not equal, so make sure you have a battery that can handle this kind of abuse. With the power you're running now, a bigger alternator shouldn't be an issue at all, but if you're looking to get into the 1kw range or higher, I would def recommend it. Why don't you give us a budget to work with, maybe we can figure something out for you.

Oh, and the Big 3 will give you overall better power handling/delivery for your car. With the additional power you are introducing into the system, it's like trying to force a golf ball through a garden hose. Suffice it to say, but some things just aren't made for each other.

The Big 3 is a wiring upgrade, the link in my previous post will give all the info you need to do it. It's the simplest and cheapest upgrade you can do on your car and if you are adding to the electrical load on your factory alt it is highly recommended (spelled mandatory).......

Thanks, I tried figuring this out today. Canadiancraptire only had 1-4 gauge not 0. Also my moms boyfriend seems to think 4 gauge would suffice for me, says I should probably upgrade my car before needing to get something that would utilize the 0 gauge. I'm indifferent to this decision.

Also my budget 150-200. Guess i'll chillax with 1 12" for now. I am sorta scared to wire that amp up again to have my next sub explode.

PM Deadly Sones on here. He is in Windsor as well and would likely give you a hand with whatever you need. Including helping you make a propper box.
