Which amp would you guys recommend for a (model: 41VL7122) Kicker 12" L7 it's continuous RMS is 900 2OHM. I have a CX1200.1 right now but apparently that is too much for it? Am I harming it? should I have gotten the KX800.1? The L7 I have I believe is defective and I am in the process of sending it back because it will not stop clipping I believe is the noise.

 

its fine does 1200@2ohm at 14.4 volts and i imagine it sees far less consistently after impedance rise.
they work well together. if the sub is being clipped by the signal the gain on the amplifier is too high this destroying the coil
