First of all, do lots of research on the pricing. NEVER buy something on impulse no matter how "awesome" the price is. In this economy, vendors are desperate to sell but they'd tell you that US rate is going up, and u are getting a good price and what not.

Just a few weeks back, I was looking at getting my headunit. $1400+ plus taxes was the best price I could find. This week...I bought it for a somewhat killer price.

I don't know how much the 10" w3 runs, but you can get the 12" for <250 all-in. The 10" prolly could be had for $200 inclusive of taxes. Personally, I'm not impressed with any single 10". But if you've got no room, I guess you just have to live with it. Btw, plans can always change, it depends on what you are really looking for. Initially I was thinking that one 10" would satisfy me. After reading tons of good review on JL subs, I went out and tested the 10w6 only to be disappointed. Then I tested the focal that I have on the same day, and holy moly, never have I imagine 13" sub could sound so punchy, but deep and articulate at the same time. I bit the bullet the next day or two.

I had a 12 with my last setup loved it, but so did the thieves who found it. So now nothing can be visible hence smaller set up.

I have between now and next Friday to try and find the JL at a better price, might look online now that I know thats what I want to get.

RIP old setup

If you drive a wagon/hatchback without covering what's at the back, it's definitely more attractive to thieves.

The past setup was in a truck with fairly dark/reflective tints, but ya once you are in there, its all easy to see.

New car is different though.

I was looking into the same thing and stumbled upon the Jl TW5, it may work as a nice shallow mount

It got me thinking, who carries a 10w6 locally. I have been out of the seen for a while.

Forgot about this thread.

It took quite sometime but I was able to finish everything using the 10w3v3 and PDX-5. The floor of the hatch raised some but nothing that is initially noticeable to someone who has not seen it before.

After a lot of calculations I found out that I was actually able to only use 3/4 or so of the air space that the spare tire well provided so the amp is actually under the box. It makes adjustments a giant pain in the ass but it gave me an extra layer of security and stealth I wanted.

I still need to work out some rattles but other than that I am very happy with how it all worked out for my first time making a fiberglass/mdf setup.

I would take pics but that would defeat the whole purpose lol.

My REQ-5 is/was a bit of a headache though.. likes to whine...
