Try it, Im sure it can handle its own... But I dont know, I dont know these subs so I cant really say, other then try it. And if it sounds like its getting to much then thats your answer.. Thats all I can say, but Im sure someone on here will tell you for sure.

the "Big 8" they are refering to is that "special edition" singl 4ohm voice coil 8 that Jon from GCA was showing pictures of ............. you know the one that dwarfs the E8A and has 22mm of one way x-max and can handle 1500 watts rms
be careful with the E8a .......I don't know if you looked at yours real well, but if you didi you might have noticed the cone can actually hit the basket if driven far enough, and I'm pretty sure by time you hear that happening you might have caused some damage if it hits hard enough
from the reading I've done 600 watts is enough to drive the cone into the basket
I'm feeding mine 350 watts each and the take it all no problem, I will be stepping them up to 450 watts each shortly we'll see how they do [img]smile.gif[/img]

From a design standpiont here is the things that you'll want to consider with this speaker.
It is NOT efficient at all. I mean this in a very honest way. It has a very heavy 8 layer coil, it has a very stiff dual spider suspension. It is NOT for use with low power. I wouldn't even mess with it with less than 300 watts, and in many cases I'd prolly like to have a good 600 on tap for it or even more. It's NOT for low power apps ie under 300 watts imo.
From a spec standpiont here is what we have.

Qes - 0.39
Qms - 3.48
Vas - 7.8 Ltr
BL - 23
Xmag - 22.12mm
single 4 ohm
6" mounting depth
weight is just under 20lbs.
As for applications. If you grab this speaker. PORT IT, PORT IT, PORT IT. and if you didn't hear me the first three times PORT IT.
SQ guys with a lot of juice. Go .5cF vented tuned to 25Hz. Loud, low, and pretty impressive.
Street beaters. Go 1cF, tuned to 30Hz. You'll be amazed at how loud this thing can get.
SPL guys. Go 1-3cF tuned anywhere above 30Hz. This thing peaks like mad. Just does it right out the box. For the guys doing crazy 8's they probably are just now finding their dream sub.
Now how much power do you really want to give it? I'll rate it at 500/1000. Take it for what it's worth. You can run 1kw into this thing in a vented box and be just fine. It's pretty crazy what this lil sucker can do. The world just hasn't seen 8"er's like this before
We can make however many we need. Once we hit x number though we can go ahead and get the parts ordered.
Price will be 250 + s/h for anyone that is interested.

Uses the same box, well kinda, you have to account for the large displacement of the magnet on the "Big 8"
Oh, and the pic you posted of the 8A without a painted basket on the other post was actually a pic of a "Big 8".In fact it was of the original "Big 8" prototype that a friend of ours, Derek, owns
