Which pillar was broken because I never noticed that, why wouldn't I tell you. I told you about the one part without a problem, if you have any issues you should let me know as it my job to make you happy.

Well, decided to bump this thread.

The enclosure for the stang is available if anyone wants it. Im beginning to rip all the stereo out.

Too many headaches.. as for the gear, likely will make its way to the classifieds. lol

Yea, honestly, like a work of art. Was a shame I spent a couple hours sweating my *** off ripping it out.

If you have a hatch mustang, you can have it all (not the electronics.. lol)

Well, so far the amps are out, ton of wiring, the failed yellow top battery, amp rack, some trim, 3 12's. It was like 100 degrees in my garage!!

Thinking I might just stick with 1 12, 2 amps in a very basic setup once i get this all out.

I was going to call my CCA friends over last night for a dissembling party, beer, pizza etc. Then I realized, I have no CCA friends So i eated pizza and beer all myself.

When the car was completed, it was always engine noise, tons of it. I ended up getting an MSD noise cap to suppress it, worked perfect. That was however the first time I have ever experienced such bad engine noise, could have been the head unit, amps, bigstuff3, heck who knows. But, it was fixed and it was a problem that occurred for me on this install. The stang had 2 12's before, numerous amp combos. However, this install was a complete overhaul and the engine noise popped up. Once I got the car to Davis' he installed the cap and all was well.

Somewhere in between TAG and Selective Sound, my fuel gauge got toasted. Performance shop blamed Davis. Davis said he never touched it. Either or, it could have just died on its own I suppose, I don't think that is uncommon for a fox body fuel gauge. But, that's not what made me start ripping it out. That was only irritating when I picked the car up once from Davis and it was bone dry of fuel and the car died on glen erin and I had to call CAA. Nothing makes a man feel like fool more when you are sitting at the lights rolling the stang out of the way. Because the fuel gauge stopped working, the car was always full. The car 100% was idled at Davis' and was ran dry, happens. Not the end of the world but another one of those moments where i was like "f*ck!".

By far, the biggest and worst thing about the install / mods was that the electronics only had 1 yellow top to run off and there was a drain. Of course, both shops pointed it out after it was built. The car had an ongoing drain that required me to continually have a maintenance charger on it. The car essentially could sit, in a garage for 2-3 days with no charger and by then, if you could start it, it sat with super low amperage (around 8). The maintenance charger always kept the car fully charged.

The final straw was the other day the car fired, pulled it out. Cleaned up the garage, went to start it again, totally dead. Jumped it with my truck, got it back in the garage and a few days later I went out and the garage stank like rotten eggs. It was sitting on the charger as usual.

After a quick call to Davis on a sunday he figured the battery was toast. Of course, you cant get to the battery without ripping out the amp rack. Needsless to say, I cant be bothered dealing with it. Its a huge pain in the *** and the car became even more useless than ever once the stereo went in.

Comparing the issues with this setup vs my others, I can say that this wasn't the biggest, baddest system I have had, but certainly one of the most plagued by issue. The install was beautiful, the craftsmanship just, well, was amazing. It was sad to rip it out but at the same time very liberating as I felt as if I was reclaiming the car to some degree. There is nothing worse than having to carry CAA because you know the car likely wont start. Hell, i drove with jumpers in the back seat, never put away, always ready to rock. LOL

I enjoyed the stereo for all of 400km of driving.

R.I.P. SICK INSTALL, you and your battery draining will NOT be missed.

*figured id add before someone gets pissed off i wrote that*... Davis has done previous installs for me, family and friends. I will use him again. So far, from experience he is the only guy who can install an alarm correctly. LOL.. he will likely rebuild this car in a few formation.

I hear you...I currently have a 04 E500 benz that MB can't fix and it's cost me 6 G's so far...and it's bone stock. It's got a parasitic drain problem as well and won't go a day without draining the battery...I'm now disconnecting the battery every night when i get home and re-connecting it in the morning. Nice to have a 75k car (when new), and you have to pop the trunk every morning to connect the battery...I feel like I'm back in the 1920's with the manual crank start...and the idiots that built it can't fix it. I'm seriously considering an insurance job...except the piece of crap is only worth 20k now. I'm sick of fancy cars with all the electronic ...my next car will be an oldie with everything manual and carburators!!!

Rick - keep us informed of if the parasitic draw disappears or not. I get people in here and there bitching that whatever we installed is now killing their battery. We disconnect/haul it out and the problem is still there.
