2002 Silverado needs Shallow Sub

Hello everyone, been on this site for a while now, reading all the posts and everything. I'm feeling the need to get a little oomph for inside, not just outside with my exhaust anymore. So, what I'm looking at getting is a single ten or twelve inch sub to fit under the back seat. Also, two new front speakers for in the doors, which are 6.5". And to top it all off, I'm looking to get a nifty little head unit that will give me good options for when i want bass, and when i don't.

Thanks

Hey Farmboy,

JL Audio makes a great option if you don't have the time/means to build your own version.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Thanks, those do look well made, and they are stealthy. But sadly, they're all fairly large boxes. I'm wanting one that fits nice and tight under the seat, so i i can still fold up the back seat and fit larger things in there without having a problem with a large sub box. I'll keep those in mind.

And here's a picture of my truck.

Cool.

A better option for you may be incorporating the subs into the floor of the vehicle. I've seen a few of those trucks done with the subs cut directly into the floor under the rear seats... obviously with a water tight/metal/fiberglass/undercoated enclosure. A good idea would be to keep the cut out metal if you plan on selling the vehicle at a later date

I personally don't feel the urge to cut out parts of my cab, just as it never does quite seal properly, ever. Over time, with mudding, and with all the salt and water. There will be a problem. So, I'm going to stick with getting a box.

Thanks for the idea though.

Polyurethane spray (Rhino Liner type stuff) is used to seal around the cabinets, some military/enforcement vehicles have been using this for years.

It's cool if you're not into cutting up your truck, it's nice... I had the quad cab version for a bit.

If you're handy with modification projects, another way to keep your storage space might be to go into the rear interior side panels for your subs. New side plastic can be purchased at a wrecking yard for the work. Those trucks have great space for audio.

I have a number of great recommendations for you, anything from custom box and shallow sub to the tried and true drop in Thunderform. Lots of speakers to choose from and in that vehicle either a darn good coax or components are ideal. Use a 4 channel amp to power the front speakers and the sub would be the best route to take. Then a cd player that ties it all together. Hit me up on msn if you would like to discuss some options.
