My buddy just bought an Echo, with the factory MP3 player and wants me to hook up an amp and subs. Anyone pulled the deck on one of these yet? Any help you can give me? Thanks.

k im just kinda winging this. if you have the owners manual for the deck you just bought it should tell you how to install it. and as for taking out the thing. if it's like a lumina which it probally not. you need to take off the dash that surrounds it. now you need to cut the wires(make sure you lable them so you know whats what). and then it should be pretty basic from thier(i think) if this is not how you do then as i said im just winging it.

Thanks for the reply. Most new vehicles manuals do not tell you how to remove the radio. I have done quite a few installs and know how most vehicles are put together, and wiring, etc, I was hoping to hear from one of the guys that has worked on this specific vehicle. Thanks.

DONT CUT THE WIRES!!!! worst idea ever, i made that mistake, buy the harness from canadian tire or whatever for your car, saves a lot of hassle. i know jeep and chizzer probly already know this, but lumina kid, cutting the factory wires can be a bad idea.

Very true Coulter, I have done installs for people and as soon as you see the mess of wires behind the deck, you say "why didn't they spend a few bucks and save a big headache!!"

Hey guys , Jeep Beats is Ross same as Jeep awesome guy to talk to : Its me Norm long time eh!!!

Get a wiring harness its like plug and play = if u want to change decks and a mounting bracket - you know the deal

or u can go to the factory amp and tap (splice) into it (or factory speakers) go highlevel and attach it into the amp (or splice rca wires to speakers)

I did that with my factory BMW and it worked like a charm

Yes, this is Jeepbeats, I just dropped the last half of my name on here a while back. Norm, thanks for the info, I have to check out my buddy's car a bit more and find out if it has a factory amp built in somewhere. How is the ride these days, still loud as hell?
