The 6800mp is listed as $10 cheaper USD than the current 7700mp at crutchfield.com

The 6800mp is listed as "Not in Stock yet", there is no sign of the 7800 and 9800. Like usual, the lower end units are the first to come out.

1) If you look into the attached link, it shows detail on each model. According to the .pdf file, both the DEH-P7800MP & DEH-P9800BT will have auxiliary input. Secondly, ANY Pioneer IP-Bus unit can have an auxiliary input with the use of one of the auxiliary input cable options.

2) From the sounds of your experience with the DEH-P8600MP, you didn't use the power of the EQ & time alignment options to their best use. If all you do is use the "auto" feature, the unit is going to set up the EQ & time alignment settings to create the most linear frequency response possible. This more than likely won't sound very good so it's up to the user to adjust the settings to their own personal tastes. With an increase to 16 bands of adjustment on the DEH-P7800MP & DEH-P9800BT, these units should have great processing power & should be able to make almost anybody's system sound great!

And to your last point... I SURE HOPE SO!
Just to pick your brain for a moment...

Will these new models have better functionality with the iPod adaptor, or will there be a new version of the CD-IB100 coming out? To me it seems like the only models that funtion well with the CD-IB100 are the flip-out screens. I have the P80MP myself, and just recently picked up the CD-IB100, but either I'm just autistic and can't figure out how to operate the thing properly, or the interface for non-flip out screen models is just poor. I can't use the list funtion to scroll through artists while a song is playing, which means if I want to listen to artist 75 on a list of 150, I have to keep pressing down on the multi-control until I get to that artist. Sure, I can narrow it down by selecting the genre first or create playlists, but it certainly doesn't mimic the operation of an iPod as the manual suggests. It would make much more sense to actually mimic the iPod operation, as the multi-control **** is similar in fashion to the click wheel on the iPod.

I won't really find out 100% about the new product until CES on Thursday.
However, I do know that there is a new iPod adapter coming but whether or not it increases the functionality when used with your DEH-P80MP, I don't know yet.
Being that it supposedly does allow for the use of the rotary commander to mimic the click wheel in the 2006 models, it might also work with your DEH-P80MP. I'll know more in a couple days.
