2010 Cobalt Deck?

Hey guys,

Short time reader of the forum and obviously new member.

Buying a new 2010 cobalt LT in a few days and, it goes without saying, the radio sucks. So, Im looking to swap it out. However, a lot of these new cars have system components combined with the radio and steering wheel controls, etc, etc.

So, I guess my first question is with a 2010 Cobalt, when swapping out the deck .. along with the wiring harness, is there anything else that needs to be purchased? Like a control module or some crap like that?

Thanks a ton guys.

your going to need a control module like this pac one PAC GM Radio Integration Adapter Allows aftermarket radio installation in select 2006-up General Motors vehicles (model C2R-GM11) at Crutchfield.com
maybe not the exact one depending on if you have onstar etc.

I thought I might. Boo. Thank you so much for the link, btw. Makes shopping a heck of a lot easier. Do these things ever go on sale at all?

Any recommendations on a deck? The only options I really want are Ipod control and bluetooth to use my Iphone. Other than that .. meh. I will more than likely swap out the stock speakers at some point but its unlikely I will put in amps and such. MAYBE a small 4ch amp to give a little volume but even that seems unlikely.

I like the JVC KW-XR810. On the "what fits my car" guide on Future Shop, it says that this unit will fit my car but .. er .. forgive my lack of faith in anything FS says. So .. will this unit fit in a Cobalt (without modifications, that is). Any thoughts on this deck?

The deck will work with the proper dash kit. It should also be available on crutchfield. The dash kit fits the vehicle and looks factory, the radio fits the dash kit. The car needs the module, but the nice thing about the whole thing is that it can all be pulled out and the factory deck slid right back into place if you were to sell the car and wanted to keep the deck. If you're only looking for bluetooth and Ipod/Iphone control, that JVC will do just fine

The radio reflects the rest of the car..

Are you being forced to buy a Cobalt?

Thats good info. Thank you.

Like I mentioned, not really planning on upgrading a ton with amps and speakers. Just want something that will sound a bit better than stock

Funny, I can "block" you

My comment was valid. If I was looking at a new car and into audio, the Cobalt would not be my first choice is all.

It has nothing to do with me thinking GM is junk.
