no modification needed for the tweeters. thankfully they fit perfectly where the stock ones went.

also, i'm glad because anything that says dynamat was from my last build! which means less money spent on buying more :P

perfect fit for the battery. it will be encased when its done.

this is a mock up of amp placement.
the bottom two amps are to be covered to make the floor flush.
the top two amps will lay directly beneath the sub box.

fans will be used where needed.

here is a shot of the amp cover and you can just see the battery enclosure on the right. the trunk is perfectly flush with the covering now.

some unfortunate but necessary cuts to run wires

a shot of the trunk looking in from the back seats.

here are a few progress pictures of the pods for the L3SE's

isolator to be in-line between front and rear batteries.

here is another shot of the battery enclosure.

and just a shot of the car being used! (not sure why the badge and licence plate turned out yellowish. badge is black, plate has a smoke covering on it.)

I haven't taken pictures yet, but the tweeters are in, the woofers are in, the shaker is in.

amps, headunit, bluetooth, and power wire will be in tomorrow.

then its just some vacuuming/cleaning etc, and on to the fun part - tuning!!

still have some work to do....
-cleaning up amp wiring
-steering wheel controls
-utilizing stock usb connection in console for ipod
-a whole lot of vacuum time and shining
-grilles

in the meantime, here are some more pictures.

here is a shot of what the finished trunk looks like.
the battery is hidden in the enclosure seen in the bottom right.
two amps are mounted beneath the sub enclosure.
the other two beneath the false floor which allows for a flat trunk.

just the uncovered battery.
1/0 gauge main run and grounds.
4 gauge to each amp.
breaker

the two hidden amps underneath the subs
the end caps are not on yet since I haven't completed any tuning, so it will be cleaned up one that happens.

this is the shaker underneath the drivers front seat.
it is completely hidden from view, and does not obstruct movement in any way.

a shot of the front stage.
these drivers will have grilles on them. they just haven't arrived yet.

left mid

right mid

awesome install ...the metal structure behind the door panel looks weird/unique on this car, like a big wavey cutout ...couple questions

1. on the paseenger door what material in that big square on top of the dynamat

2. can you explain the shaker concept to me as im not very familiar with it..what is it exactly and what does it do? benefits?

thanks! not quite there yet, but it will be awesome when its done!

1. Its just more dampening material. Had just run out of dynamat for that section.

2. The tactile transducer or 'shaker' is an awesome addition to a SQ setup - provided it isn't treated like a novelty item.
The purpose isn't to crank it and ridiculously vibrate everything.
When listening to music, a lot of what we perceive as bass is simply from being felt.
It is especially beneficial in a SQ setup because it allows for an intense substage without actually skewing the balance of the system.
In addition with a sub, you won't ever 'hear' the punch of kickdrums or extreme low basslines like you will with these.

if you happen you have an extra channel of amplification and a few dollars, pick one up!
i'd highly recommend the buttkicker mini. I've been less than impressed in the past with the popular/cheap aura's. They simply aren't quick enough to deliver punchy rolling drum lines.

my amp is 400x1 running it.

anything over 300rms is good with this buttkicker mini.
its rated for 250.

I purchased it a while ago, but if I remember correctly, its just over $100.
no enclosure needed. So if you already have the amp then its not a huge expense.

It also helps if you have some EQ on the low end. Like any speaker, it will require a little tuning.
