2ohm speakers and 4ohm sub

I have a 4 channel Kenwood kac-8405 amplifier, a set of infinity reference 6032cf's and 1x10" Alpine Type E sub.

My question is this, Can I run my 2ohm speakers and my 4ohm sub off my amp safely at the same time or is it not recommended and/or not possible to mix ohm loads to an amp?

Thanks

For that amp any bridged connection the load must equal 4 ohms. So no. You need a sub or sub combo that the load is equal to 4 ohms for that application.

this is actually incorrect. I think you may have mis-interpreted what he has.
The speakers are 2 ohm each (run these off of channels 1+2), and the subwoofer is 4 ohms (bridge 3+4 for it).

This is actually the best possible senario for that amplifier.

This is exactly how I want to run my setup. I was just worried that my amp wouldn't be able to handle a 2ohm load and 4 ohm load at the same time.

I'm glad to hear this will be ok.

Thanks

When the amp is t presented with a 4ohm load on the bridged channels it operates the same as a 2ohm stereo connection so really the load is 'balanced' not that it matters.

Can I tap into either the front or rear channel factory speaker wires and use the signal from either one to send a preamp signal to both my front speakers and my sub?

OR

Do I have to tap into both the front and rear speaker lines to get preamp signals for my speakers and sub?

I was under the impression I would need to use both the bass output rcas and the main output rcas for my scenario. (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-42VWDxa...trol-LC2i.html)

However, I found an installation guide where somebody was using the lc2i for their system and they only used the main rca outputs, sent the signal to their amp, and then ran speaker wire to both their front speakers and their sub without having to hookup rca outputs from the lc2i. Therefore, the amp used the single rca preout from the lc2i for both the front speakers and the sub.

Here is the article I'm talking about: http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/...27&postcount=1

Note- Check the 3rd picture down, it shows only the single pair of rca's coming out of the lc2i, yet the user claims to be getting sound from both his speakers and his sub.

What I would do is tap off of the front speakers and run seperate RCAs to the front and to the sub part of the amp. If you added the **** afterwards it would only effect the subwoofer. I'm not sure why hes using the **** with the RCAs plugged into the main output. This would deem the **** useless.

I think this is what I'm going to do. I want to find a harness that allows me to do my hookups without cutting the factory speaker line as I want to set everything back to stock if I sell my car. I'm having a tricky time in my head trying to figure out how the wiring will work having my front speakers and sub amped with my rear speakers still running off the stock headunit.

I just can't quite grasp the wiring concept. I will continue my research... =)

There wont be many if any harnesses for you to do this. all you have to do is splice into them and it'll be fine. You'll be able to find the wires in either A) the kicks, B)behind the deck, C) at each door boot.

It'l sound fine having the rears non-amped. I've done this in a few cars and I was more than happy.
