What vehicle are you looking at doing this in?

What I'm getting at, is that many vehicles have a trunk that is only 30 to 36 inches wide. 4 10s straight across would be an impossible fit with a conventional box. Provided you have decent fabrication skills, a semi clamshell approach can allow you to slip the 4 in. The only vehicle that's I've seen with 4 10s in the trunk, was in an 88 Mustang GT convertable. I built it by subdividing the trunk space with a baffle that ran from side to side behind the shock towers. It was basically, an IB setup, but with the drivers hidden behind where the soft-top folded down.

Take some trunk measurements, and post 'em here. There's a few box gurus on the forum that can help you a lot from there.

well PEI330Ci, its a 2nd generation ford probe gt. they have a pretty large trunk size actually.
youre right, 4 across wont fit probably and i dont want it to look like that anyway. but the box in this link :http://www.topedgeonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=7270
has the side 2 subs angled off, so that may provide me with some extra space.so im looking for specs similar to this box, or another similar design concept. since they are 10's , i dont need a huge cu.ft per sub like 12's. so i think im ok on the height part too! thx

A checked out a Probe back in the 90's that had four 12" PG Xmax's in the trunk. Basically a box was built one on each of the trunk sides with two subs in each. If you looked down on it you would see a big triangle with the tip of the triangle at the middle back of the rear seat and the other two tips at the rear lens corners.
Subs were in a clamshell design with the back wall of the triangle bare.
In the middle (empty sparetire well) was the amplifier.
This was a sealed design but could be made ported.

How much height do you have?
If you have roughly 15" of height, you should be able to fit 4 across. Mount the two on the outside as tight to the bottom corners as possible, then mount the 2 center ones as high as possible. If you are using round subs, then you will not nedd a full 40"

and kickerolds, what do u mean 1 up, 1 down?
you mean like stacking them on top of each other?

p.s0 i dont want to face the subs up towards my hatchback glass
